The traditional hotel offers spacious, clean rooms and has a beautiful old guest room where breakfast or dinner is served. You can look up to the imposing Göttweig Pencil and walk a few minutes by car to the guardhouse. But it is also a fine example of the real significance of UNESCO World Heritage: namely, a price level that is well above the national average. 20 km away, the guest pays for a room without climate, without minibar, without room juice and with furniture from the 1990s in a building whose operations failed the charm of the 1960s by at least a third less for the same performance. Cheaper than a third, I would have been awarded 4 points.

Importance of the Unesco World Heritage Site

The hotel is on the edge of the village and looks a little 'utilitarian', in spite of the fact that the basis of the hotel is a very old building. When we went in to register, the person who greeted us was friendly and efficient and gave use the information we needed. The room was spacious and on the first floor some of the rooms open straight out into the garden which is sunny and has plenty of places to sit. This was a real bonus. The room lacks some small things like a facility to make tea/coffee but the bar/restaurant is usually open. On the other hand it is clean and comfortable and there is a table and a desk and a small sofa- The windows are large and the room is light (room 19). Breakfast is comprehensive and well served...good food and plentiful variety. We had a couple of meals there and the food is fairly standard but freshly prepared and well served. No complaints! The hotel has been modernised and the deco is a bit plain but functional. We had a good stay....and it is convenient for walks and cycle ways.

Efficient Personal Service

For professional reasons, I had to work in Krems. Since everything was booked up there, I fled across the Danube...for EUR 90.00 for a night out with breakfast, to pay a week in advance, at officially 3 stars the price/performance ratio is not right. The hotel manager greeted us sweaty in a running address, on request if we could have breakfast already due to our appointment from 6.30 am, we decided that this was not possible and there was basically only breakfast from 7.00 am...Basically I would have planned to go by public transport in Krems, whereas now the taxi drivers had to stay on schedule. The rooms were in order and the rooms were in order and the 3S-K and the Exi-Service were not valid, but the price/performance ratio was not valid except for the 3S-K and the other services, but the 3S-K was not valid.

Price/performance does not match

A golden nose the shameless host was probably still trying to earn late at night, 12 (twelve!) euros for 2 (two) bottles of Heineken (0.33l) he demanded across the street, all serious! No thanks, never again, Mr Burger!

What about Golden Heineken?

My wife and two grandsons stayed at this hotel for two days.  The host (Anton Burger)and his father (also Anton) were wonderful.  Because our relatives had changed their availability we had an unplanned day on Saturday.  Anton help  get train tickets for the two grandsons and myself to go to Vienna rather than drive.  The next evening the return train was late and we missed the connector train which only ran every two hours.  Anton  met us at the station at Krems and took us back to the Hotel.  And he held the restaurant open so we could get dinner.
I later discovered he did this will delaying his departure for a birthday party for a cousin which he managed to attend only slightly late.
First class service way beyond anything I have encountered.

Great Hotel and staff

Modern double room with access to the garden, very quiet. Bathroom facilities minimal but correct, separate toilet. The guesthouse belonging to it with good-natured cuisine is recommended. The breakfast buffet was proper, fresh and good. We were served and supervised by the owner very kindly.

Good hospitality

As much as I'm a Wachau fan, the hotel in Örtchen Furth has only one thing to offer: expensive room prices! The guest rooms and rooms (without a view of Penst Göttweig) have long since left their best years behind, but at least it's clean and purposeful. Breakfast is fine, but nothing exceptional. Parking is right in front of the door, but you also need it. Without a conducive basement, you can't stay here. Public transportation (bus and train) is at least in the immediate vicinity, but it goes very irregularly and at night. Unfortunately, there is no rush hour or any other gastronomic convenience, so you have a look at a hotel, which is also a great place to stay.

Price performance inadequate

This is a renovated 15th century building with a modern annex and a nice garden. The rooms are fairly spacious,clean and functional,with a good bathroom, but no character whatsoever. The bed was comfortable, but the room was fairly spartan. No in-room safe,no phone,no fridge or mini bar, not even any toiletries. I went to buy soap from a local shop,but in the evening I found a tray in the hotel corridor which had a few sachets with shower gel on it!
The location is lovely if you have a car, as it's very peaceful and quiet; the surrounding countryside is beautiful, vineyards, and Goettweig abbey on a steep hill above the village, some scenic walks in the vicinity. There is a bus stop for Krems nearby, a 15 minute ride,from there you can explore the Wachau region by bus or boat, but there are no buses after about 4 pm. 
Without a car I was dependent on the hotel restaurant for dinner.T
he menu is fairly limited , but enough option for a few days. Starters are limited to caesar salad or a choice of two soups, for mains you have a bit more choice, and for dessert there is pancake or ice cream! The food was ok but nothing special.One other peculiarity is that  there is no drinks lists,so you have no idea how much drinks are. The continental breakfast buffet, however, is pretty  good with a good choice of cold meat, cheeses,jams,breads etc.
There is only one other restaurant in the village within walking distance (although in the daytime    there is Cafe Kittel with delectable pastries and gateaux) which is not very good either. I know, because on the day of my arrival I was told by the owner the hotel kitchen would close at 6.30 pm and he had to go out with his wife! 
There is potential in this place if only more importance  was afforded to the guests' rather than the owners's needs. The room rates definitely are not good value for what is on offer.
