Really pleasant stay in this comfortable, traditional hotel which is something of a shrine to Olympic skier Egon Zimmermann and still owned by his family. 

Apart from the excellent service (notably in reception and the perfectionist barman) and renovated spa, there is a uniquely atmospheric fondue stube which was a real highlight of the stay. 

The fondue itself cost no extra, tasted superb and came with extremely generous helpings.

This is an amazing hotel in an amazing location right near the slopes. The quality of service and food was outstanding.  Warm and cosy and perfect Spa/Sauna for the end of the day relax.

Breakfast before hitting the slopes had everything you could want, and some cosy night drinks in the lounge by the fireplace really topped off the day.

Our family are amazed by how you managed to improve both the facilities and services year after year. This year we specially appreciate the added small details with a female touch you have done and as always the attentiveness from the staff now even better than before.
As always the food is great with a large choice to pick from both to breakfast and dinner. Rooms and all facilities cleaned several times a day. The spa and relax was greatly appreciated after a long day of skiing. The staff very attentive and always willing to give you the best experience. 
We (age between 21-62) can highly recommend this great family hotel and we will definitely be back hopefully sooner than later.

Great hotel

Kristberg is a great Hotel when you want good service, nice rooms and great food. The staff are great, really service minded and wanting to do that little extra to make sure your experience is world class. I have been staying at Hotel Kristberg over severall years and its always been really good..I like that they are always striving to become even better and are succeeding! It was great coming here now with my girlfriend in our early twenties to show her how great skiing there is in and around Lech and also how great Hotel Kristberg is. They have a really nice spa with several different saunas, snack bar, jacuzzi and relaxing room…we spent a couple of hours here everyday which was perfect after a day of skiing and before the six course dinner they serve every night which was outstanding! The rooms are spacious and nice and they clean it twice everyday..one time in the morning and then prepares it for you when you get back from dinner to go to sleep, small things that makes huge difference! 
Thank you so much to the team at Hotel Kristberg..we will be back soon and are lookingforward seeing you all again!

A week of skiing with my girlfriend

This will be admittingly long.  

NOTE WELL: This is my first trip to Austria and until I stayed at the Hotel Kristberg I had never met any of the staff, managers and owner(s) of the Hotel.  This is a bonafide, no-string attached review.

We flew to Zurcih via Boston and boarded a bus to Lech, where we would be dropped off at the bus stop and order a taxi to our hotel…or so we thought.  Whether through magic, voodoo or just good old fashion top notch service there was a driver, his name was Radi, (and some other guy named Micahel Zimmerman) from the Hotel Kristberg waiting for us.  When we arrived at the hotel, we were escorted to the lobby and Radi quickly transported our luggage to our room as we checked in. *We later learned that the hotel had checked in with the bus company for passengers that are booked at their hotel.  It was a very nice surprise.

You instantly feel, no, you immediately know that the right decision for your stay was made the moment you arrive at Hotel Kristberg.  Greeted by a generous platter of homemade cookies and the lovely Katarina at the front desk it was clear that top notch service is the Hotel’s priority.  I’m making the very broad assumption that it all starts at the top, as that “Micahel Zimmerman guy” is the Hotel Proprietor!!!!

The Kristberg Hotel is the definition of charming.  I don’t know how they have pulled this off but it is both family friendly while also being romantic.  The hotel itself is very well maintained by attentive and friendly staff.  The theme is skiing and the hearty outdoors; rightfully so as the Hotel Kristberg proprietor, Michael Zimmermann, is the nephew of Olympic Gold Medalist and hotel Founder Egon Zimmermann.  Michael, your uncle would be very, very proud of the tradition of excellence you are carrying on.

As I explored the property I found on display many of the awards, some of the actual equipment and a treasure trove of photos depicting Egon’s many triumphs.  Truth be told, I could have spent a good portion of my trip staying indoors and absorbing the history of the hotel, scenic views and warm “home away from home” atmosphere while enjoying a toasty Gluhwein.  

As you make your way to the lounge area, appointed with a lovely fireplace, you realize it's so much more than a lounge.  It’s as if someone took your favorite and most cherished memory of your favorite holiday and transported it there.  The comfortable couches, chairs and decor are something I’m eager to return to.  Janina and May both provided excellent service as bartenders and their knowledge of the local history for some of the beverages we drank was impressive. Enzian Root Schnapps comes to mind.  Needless to say, when I visited the lounge area I never wanted to leave…alas…a person needs to eat and eat we did!

Dinner and Breakfast were included with our stay and this was not some all inclusive type menu where everything looks and tastes the same.  Even as I type this I’m dreaming of my return for the 5 course meals that were served at dinner.  Locally sourced and themed, each course was perfectly prepared and accommodating for those with allergies.  There was a gluten free option for each course and the staff was very much on top of where to plate the meals.  I feel compelled to call them all out in case they one day read this review, Norbert, Kirsten, Sebastian, Christian, Yago and Suko…you really were the icing on the cake and made our trip such a pleasure. 

I’d be remiss if I didn't mention the views from our room were of the Oberlech and will stay with me for quite some time. A slice of heaven on earth is the only way to describe it.  After a full day of skiing the hotel also has a full spa, with Sauna, 2 steam rooms and oversized jacuzzi.  This is the only hotel I’ll stay at for my future returns to Lech.  This staff, the setting and the convenience to town are just too good to not return too.  There is SO much more I can add but I fear folks will stop reading. Thank you Michael and the Hotel Kristberg staff for an amazing stay as your guest. 


A tiny slice of Heaven they call the Hotel Kristberg

We recently returned from a fantastic 2 week stay at Hotel Kristberg and plan to return again as soon as is practicable.  Our room (Kriegerhorn) was light, spacious and comfortable with a lovely balcony and views across the village and up to Ober Lech.  The staff was uniformly courteous and responsive to all of our needs - from the custodial staff to the dining room to the front desk.  The decor is classically alpine  and comfortable throughout and particularly inviting to anyone with an interest in ski history as the walls are festooned with photographs and mementos from the career of the hotel's founder and world/olympic champion Egon Zimmermann.  Both breakfast and dinner were excellent and served by a very professional and attentive staff.  The spa is thoroughly outfitted with a hot tub, 2 steam baths and a sauna.  While the walk up the hill at the end of a full day of skiing (we got in about 300k vertical feet during our stay) was a minor workout, it was all worthwhile when we walked inside.  We will definitely return and bring our entire family on the next trip.  Thank you to the entire staff for having made our vacation such a pleasure!

A Glorious 2 Week Stay

The Kristberg Hotel is a few minutes' walk up the mountain and you can't hear the whirlwind of the main street. The house is older, whoever expects a hyper-modern hotel is wrong here, everything is functional, sound, almost already of an old-fashioned comfort, you fall into a sluggishness like in the past, with a perfect service that you rarely enjoy today, from the cleanliness of the rooms to the wonderful food, the usual Austrian 'indifference' is missing, you feel like a willing guest and are treated as such in every situation. A real appearance of 'High Life' in the Arl area.

Comfortable and very clean rooms where the staff attend the room several times a day. 
Great breakfast buffet with everything you need and a little bit more. The five-course evening meal with several choices was always superb. Great spa after a day of skiing with two steam baths a sauna, a jacuzzi and a silent relaxation part. The staff always welcoming and asking how your day was and checking if you needed anything. I felt truly taking care of in an personal and good way. I can truly recommend The Kristberg and will keep coming back to this great hotel in this great skiing area of Lech.

Hotel Kristberg delivers again!

We have just returned from our third visit to Hotel Kristberg in Lech.  This family run hotel is exceptionally run, with friendly and helpful staff, delicious food (including local specialties), spacious and well-appointed rooms, and a clean and relaxing spa.  Michael Zimmerman is doing a great job!

Fabulous repeat stay at Hotel Kristberg

We have just returned from an exceptional ski trip to Hotel Kristberg in Lech. Michael and his staff were excellent as usual and the Hotel just never disappoints. The food, the cocktails, and the wonderful facilities and warm hospitality will lure us back again. This hotel is a gem.
