Unfriendly reception No information about late entrance - bad surprise at night (well, 23.05!) The inn door is closed, no response to the clearly audible bell signs. Look for something: hotel door can be locked. But now: no elevator....so you climb to the second floor (including the disabled husband) The response of the inn in the morning Ahh So I do not imagine with service.

Suitable for double concerts

I don't understand how this hotel gets to 3 stars. I had a single room with an absolutely obsolete facility, it probably hasn't been upgraded for decades. The room was tiny and uncomfortable, the bathroom was tight. In the shower the temperature can't be cooled due to the obsolete temperature controller, you have to come up with the set (very hot) temperature. And - now it's going to be really unappetizing - the flushing of the toilet is so weak that it shouldn't flush anything out... After all, the food is more than delicious, for 3 stars, the equipment is minimal. The service is rarely unpleasant to get behind/coffee, you have to regularly drop the tea from the staff; from myself.

Unloved and outdated

We ordered a large bottle of mineral (5,90), which was also well taken to the table. Visiting a restaurant - eating somewhere else

We spent one night in this inferior hotel. It is a descent in the truest sense of the word. The rooms are unattended and outdated. The reception and breakfast area is a one-man show. When I arrived I was left standing and it was vulgarly telephoned. The sausage at breakfast was visibly old and partly spoiled. The breakfast buffet is a disaster in terms of quality, choice and presentation. Hot water for the second tea area costs extra and not little. The price is measured in almost a strange way - you don't know what kind of product you're actually talking about here?

Measured descent

Never book this place! It's awful, unfriendly staff, the room and the furnitures are from the 70's, even the towels! There was no heating in the bathroom, the water didn't go down in the sinker, the beds were crap. Room was dirty. It took 3 hours to have 20 degrees in the room, very old radiators as well. In the elevator smelled a mix of cigarette smoke and kitchen smell. The wifi in the hotel is not working, my phone in the room connected to the free wifi on the square on the opposite side of the street. Ridiculous.
And they lied about the price as it was personally booked by a relative and they confirmed a price of 150 eur for 2 nights, but when we paid, they asked 150 eur for 1 nights for this crap room which is not worth a penny! And they didn't tell us that breakfast is included in the price, they were in silence! Also, they lied that the hotel is full, no other room, but there was no one in the hotel, restaurant was also empty. This place is a disgrace for the city of St. Florian!
If you want to avoid a nightmare "hotel", then never go to this place!

Worst "hotel" I've ever been to. Expensive crap

Dirty rooms and extremely dirty hotel No hot water in some rooms Most unfriendly staff at the breakfast buffet Speaking of breakfast buffet - sausage & cheese on a plate (a lot of fun for the vegetarians), no egg, cheapest orange nectar, inedible coffee (but be careful, there are no vending machines for these too, so better not to ask for a buffet before breakfast -> If eyes could kill...) Make a wide arc around this hotel, if necessary you'll stay even better in the tent, that's always better than here.

Four stars, that's right.

Unfortunately in the country everything was closed and I had no choice: I had to go to the Gasthof Erzherzog Franz Ferdinand: same reception, same breakfast room, same staff of the Florianerhof.

Costly, cheap, avoidable

We've recently spent a night here during a business trip through Austria. 
This wasn't the original plan. We were supposed to stay the night in Linz, unfortunately something with our booking went wrong and we found ourselves without a hotel. Since this seemed to have been a very popular night for Linz, the only hotel we could find that still had 2 rooms left at 10pm was the Florianerhof. In hindsight we would have probably been better off sharing one room elsewhere. 

No idea were the supposed 4 stars come from or how long ago this rating was accredited. Yes the hotel might have been a good standard once, but this certainly ancient history. No internet in the rooms, no amenities to speak off. 
The breakfast buffet was a joke. A tiny platter of cold meat and cheese (all on one plate, good thing I am not a vegetarian) with a few jams and cereals and one jug of orange juice, to be shared between all guests. Didn't seem as if they were replacing anything that ran empty, so it was strictly first come first serve. 
Staff was grumpy and totally not interested in anything the guests had to say. 
During check out the guy in front of me suggested they might offer an ash tray in front of the hotel, since
you've got to go outside for a smoke and don't want to throw your butts onto the street. But the only response was that it isn't their problem what you do outside.... Unbelievable. 
Even though St Florian looked picturesque (at least the bits we've seen), I don't think I will be back for a second visit. 

Very dated and expensive for what they offer

terrible hotel back in time, no wi-fi in the rooms, personal not interested, empty restaurant. no guests. we decided to go next door at Zur Kanne, with excellent food. why in the world did I make this reservation. And... how did they manage to get more then one star?

I have stayed in many hotels around the world, across the whole range: from cheap bed&breakfasts and hostels to the most luxurious hotels. However, the Florianerhof, and its brother "Erzherzog Franz Ferdinand", really stand out - in a very negative way: The rooms, even though clean, are outdated, and especially the bathrooms are reminiscent of the 60s. Warm water? If you are lucky! Internet? Forget it. Positive service attitude by hotel staff, and in particular the senior owner who is manning the reception? Never heard of. Okay, one could think that's okayish for a night or two if the price was okay (after all, that's a not too expensive rural area) - but the hotel charged more than USD 120 for the night! High on the price (relative to what's offered); low on everything else. Sorry to say, but: consider staying, e.g., in Linz and make St. Florian only a daytrip!
