To start with, the front desk staff were not friendly at all when I checked in. They do not know English, so we had to communicate via phone translation program.  The room I was assigned was very small. So small that I couldn't open two luggage at the same time.  There is a glass wall dividing your bed and the bathroom, I guess it's to give a show while you shower to your partner if you are going with a companion.  The wi-fi was OK but it kept dropping and was slow. The room was clean compared with other hotels I have stayed in Shanghai.  You get soap and shampoo dispenser instead of the usual packaged ones or soap bars that leave you itching after use.  

The TV channels were limited to English channels, most were in Chinese.  Bed was OK, not too hard like others I have stayed at.

Breakfast is more tailored to local Chinese. For foreigners, you get toast with jams, chicken nuggets, fried egg, fruit salad and coffee (3-in-1 ready made ones).  The rest were steamed buns, fried rice and noodles, Chinese vegetables, and noodle soup.
I stayed for 4 days and each day was the same menu.  

The subway station is not that close by, it is a good 15-18 minute walk but if you are carrying two big luggage and a laptop bag, it is quite far.  

There are not good restaurants around, most of them sell noodle dishes and their menu are in Chinese.  None of them spoke English, so it was difficult to find a place to eat.

The shopping mall that you hear in other reviews (in front of the subway station) was closed for renovation, but you get some other brand name retail stores across the street. This is where you can find restaurants with English or at least pictures of the dishes.

If you like foot massages, there are plenty of them nearby the hotel.  Oh! what was annoying at the hotel is that each night someone called me if I wanted a massage, one night they called me at 1:00 AM!!!  I think the front desk personnel has something to do with this business.  5 min. after I went to the room, someone slipped massages/escort business cards under the door.  

If you are going alone for business and in a budget, this hotel is OK. But I do not recommend it if you are going with family.

CLOSET SIZE ROOMS WITH GOOD AMENITIES...

We were put in this hotel by our agent at 2 am in the morning so we had no choice as it was rather late and we were tired   .The room looked really horrendous and small so small we had no where to open our luggage  ,  it looked like we  were more  in a sex hotel than anything else based on the room  decor  . We went down for breakfast at 9 am  only to be rudely  told it was finished  and all that was left was 1 or 2  stale burnt  crossants. At 10 am we asked to be transferred out of this terrible hotel  . This is our worst and shortest ever stay in a hotel !!! 

Worse hotel stay ever 

Stayed here . Room was clean however service a serious let down.  Asked about having a beer to relax was told no beer in hotel . Took a walk found a beer came back and found beer for sale in hotel "shop" . 
Would rate this hotel more for local travellers not international food menu is very limited. 
If you stay here be prepared to strike out to the local area 

Needs serious improvement 

The hotel is located in a remote, sad and dark neighborhood. Construction work nearby is very noisy and disruptive. There are no shops or restaurants around. The rooms are ancient and dirty. The staff do not know English, which makes the formalities on arrival and departure difficult. The hotel has dubious contacts with the ambiguous scene. To avoid.

Awful.

Not impressed. Everything was in need of repair. Deluxe room and was awaken each night by sewer smell. Run down and still allows smoking. Hard to breathe if you have sensitivity to smoke. Restaurant hours not good. Housekeeping came into room each day even when sign posted not to. First night was given late call by giggling spa girls to come give me massage. Price changes 3 times. Finally decided it sounded more like sex massage than legit. 4 star hotel?? Maybe in Chinese standards. 2 at best. Close to subway. 

Chinese Hotel

Probably the pictures were taken at the hotel opening, and since then they have not been maintained. The lunch break is terrible; we arrived around 9:00 and there was nothing left. The fruit bowls were always dirty and full of fingers; by 2x we found beets on the floor; the tables were almost always dirty.

The hotel is nice, outside it's small for Shanghai, but very nice the neighborhood is little bustling there are two major avenues at two steps to get out at night the bedrooms are clean the bedding is very good quality the wifi works properly without any more soundproofing level it's great because they're building a 10 meters from the hotel a new highway so the construction sites are 24/7, but they've heard it almost nothing the breakfast is very good nothing to blame it's very varied why then 3 rounds and not 5, the only black dot is the angle level for a 4 star hotel the girls at the reception will have a very bad angle level they're not going to understand what's happening to them and you're getting bored a taxi they're never going to talk to you very well if you're not talking to a very good hotel

Hotel of medium quality

Bad hotel, smells of cigarettes, terrible English at the front desk, poor quality towels, liquid community soap or whatever everyone uses, unhygienic for a 4 star hotel, horrible location, finally only use in the last case.

Only as a last resort... and one night only, no more.

The hotel is very good, large rooms, clean, good breakfast. The hotel is a short walk from the center, but the metro station is 15 minutes walk away (there is a large shopping mall), and there are always taxis available. If you want to get to the Shanghai exhibition center - it's not far from the hotel.. There are a few good restaurants with large halls nearby, but you can eat dinner with a big company.. I recommend!

It's a very decent hotel, although it's a long way from downtown.

This hotel is actually quite difficult to find even for their local taxis. It is very far from the city center (Bund). My business associate booked this hotel because it is near his organization. I think a taxi ride from Pudong would cost about 200RMB. However, I took the Maglev (40RMB) to Longyang station and then took a taxi from there (30RMB). So for a solo traveller, this will be the cheaper option.

The cleanliness and size of the room is average. There's a bit of variety in the breakfast but nothing to crow about. The internet can be access via the tv. The reception do speak English. The metro station is quite far from the hotel and to get to the Nanjing East Road or the Lujiazhui, you will need to change lines. So it's pretty inconvenient.

In summary, stay in this hotel only if it suits your business needs. Besides it's pretty cheap (340RMB per night). If you are in Shanghai purely for leisure and sightseeing, my advice is to find other hotels, like the Grand Central Shanghai (read my other review).
