A friend in Ostrava booked this for us.  What a surprisingly, wonderful place.  The hotel is a labyrinth.  You go up and down stairs, through rooms, corridors and a huge hall lined with animal heads.  Our room was huge.  Everything was so old and solid looking.  It even had a fireplace.  All of the furniture is heavy wood.

The hotel has a brewery and a restaurant that service traditional Czech meals.  I don't know what they served us but the food was excellent as so was their beer.

Their breakfast was good but It didn’t have a large selection.  They had a warmer that had fried sunny side up eggs, sausages that looked like hot dogs and scrambled eggs.  Bread and a toaster, a selection of cold cuts and cheeses and cereal.  They had a cappuccino machine that also dispensed hot water for tea.  They had grapes, bananas and oranges.


A unique experience in a wonderful, charming old hotel

We really loved the authenticity of this old restored chateau. The rooms were very comfortable and the aroma of the lovely soap made from the beer (brewed on premises) was really nice. The beds were very comfortable and on the first night, we had a really wonderful deep tub - not common when travelling in Europe. The only faults can give this place, are the lack of warm reception and lack of attention to detail in making up the rooms. We staying with a family of 4 for a total of 4 days. We had a distinct feeling that our requests for a room upgrade during the second part of our stay were being ignored...... we were looking for something slightly larger as the attic rooms- although comfortable, were on the smaller side. We were visiting for an extended period for the World Junior hockey championships - one got the feeling that perhaps Ostrava is not normally visited by as many North Americans and perhaps the lack of “warm hospitality” may have been somewhat of a language barrier or cultural difference? Either way, we have travelled all over Europe and the standard seems to be a daily room “freshening” and certainly a room upgrade when there seemed to be availability. This is a small capacity accommodation and we felt there could have been improved attention to detail! 

Fantastic atmosphere - weak reception

When you drive into Ostrava, you do not expect a hotel of this standard. The moment you enter the warm reception, you feel welcome. I was in the Hunters Room which had a four poster, an open fire and the head of a very large elk on the wall! Didn't find it noisy as we were there in mid winter, but could understand it being a bit rowdy in summer .The beer which is brewed on the premises is very good. The food some of the best around, although breakfast wasnt up to western standards (IMO). The staff are all very friendly. While we were there, there was a mass shooting in Ostrava, so perhaps care is needed in the town. Cant fault this hotel, though.

Complete Surprise

This hotel is located in an old manor house that has been restored. The furnishings are authentic! The staff are lovely, and the restaurant has delicious authentic Czech foods, as well as their own brewery!

Very comfortable room in historic surroundings!

We love historic houses and this one is a perfect example, how to make out of a ruined small castle a beautiful charming hotel - with love to details, extremely friendly staff and high quality of materials. We had the "Masters" room with four-poster bed and a very nice bathroom with spacious shower, all done in style of the house. The restaurant is may be the best in the region. The only detriment was that other guests coming or going in the middle of the night don't consider there may be sleeping people and are extremely loud. May be the staff could kindly advise, that in a hotel you are usually not alone.

Unforgettable. We look forward coming again.

The reception is like a wine cellar, all the furniture is very old, with unknown hunters' trophies hanging on the walls, owl-horned chandeliers under the ceiling and, of course, knightly accessories. After you get the gift key, you go through the aisles and the round stairs and you get into a room, each with its own name.

Travel to the Czech Middle Ages with all the conveniences

Excellent hotel , excellent services , excellent friendly staff.We were at room number 24 nice room in the roof floor.Nice furniture , very romantic atmosphere.
Perfect breakfest.Beer and wine spas and massage really nice.One day we had beer and second day wine.Nice rooms with nice wooden bath.Eexcellent massage

Excellent hotel

We went after the previous reviews and didn 't regret it. A great restaurant. A huge stylised room. A bathroom with candles. And from morning, because everything was packed at night, the beer at Spa. The road home was easier.

It's a nice break before the trip.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. Each room is individually and beautifully furnished. The reception is very competent. English is fluent. The dining at the hotel's own restaurant was excellent and the food was very high quality. The restaurant staff speaks English as well, is equally friendly and attentive. Our own brewed beer was very tasty. We were so satisfied that we had not visited any other restaurant outside the hotel. We booked the beer bath with subsequent massage. We were very satisfied and would like to repeat this visit to the hotel in the near future.

Wonderful and Unique Accommodation

It's a wonderful authentic setup, very elegant & clean and a huge modern bathroom. A really great experience. Absolutely friendly, helpful staff and a very good kitchen. We are very much looking forward to our next visit to Ostrava.
