I went to visit the place to make a reservation and when we were waiting there was no one, so I decided to walk around the yard and approach the pool, I took the phone to answer a message and a senior gentleman went crazy to shout that what was he doing standing there with the phone, that I can't be there for the person I asked for permission, the way that this person addressed me was ridiculous, I told him that I wanted room information and he told me that he was the owner and that I already expected it, so I said if this is how the owner treats his customers who want information like treating them as guests... the place is pretty but the administration of this gentleman is completely disgusting, I recommend you not to go to this place, there are many more options in this town, if you want an unpleasant experience to attend to in the future...

The hostel is located in a good location in Vilcambamba, it would be due to the high season date that there would be no staff to attend to all the guests, as the breakfast service was very slow, and the water service was not regular every day.

A Regular Attention

The hostel is nice and has an excellent location within Vilcabamba, however the rooms are basic for the price, if recommended to put foot towels and improve the hot water system as we had to bathe in warm water since it never warmed up. The service at the breakfast could be more personalized. The jacuzzi, sauna pool only works on weekends which was a disappointment and should be offered as well as on their booking page, etc.

Nice but not for improvement.

Our ladies group always eats overlooking the pool on the back patio; I've been in several of the rooms too. The view is a delight! The service to take an order is fast, options for the "special " are limited and small but the price is $4.50 including a tasty drink; there is also a full menu but be sure to add two "sides" or the servings will also be small. Usually with 8 or more people, in typical Latin style, dishes come out one - just one - at a time. Therefore, the first one served is done eating long before the last person is served. If hungry, it's best to order a dish to share and wait longer in a more contented manner for the main meal.

I have throughly enjoyed not only discounted meals with my friends on Sundays but "date nights" with my husband and other couples. Every meal has been perfectly delicious and priced right too. Having decades in the food service industry myself, I am still in awe at the quality of the service. You have to try this restaurant!

Ladies (Discount) Sunday Lunch or Out on a Date - It's Always Perfect!

I was GRANDPAcking in Vilca for 1 week.
I booked myself into the Hostería El Descanso de Ramses … it was about 100 metres from the town centre.
I booked a Double Room (single occupancy) at a discounted rate of about US$21 / night including Breakfast.
My room was on the ground floor with a nice view out over the pool and a place to rig up my hammock.
My room was on the small side.
It came with a wardrobe and cable TV (with lots of English Speaking channels).
The in-room wifi was very good and fast enough to stream videos.
It had an average sized ensuite.
The ‘hot water shower’ took a couple of minutes to warm up and, when it did, the water was usually ‘tepid’ rather than ‘hot’.
The included Breakfast was average: coffee / tea, fruit juice, 2 eggs (scrambled or fried), yogurt, muesli, and toast with butter and jam.
All-in-all, I thought that it was good value for money at the price that I paid (for Ecuador).

More of a 'budget resort' than a hostel

Very pleasant hotel in Vilcabamba and the location is very convenient. I spent a week and my stay was very comfortable. The breakfasts are nice, eggs, toast, yogurt, juice, and coffee. The hotel and rooms are clean. There is a swimming pool, sauna, and jucuzzi. They offer spa facilities like yoga and massage. I did not try these facilities. A plus for Vilcabamba is they accept Visa which is not that common in Vilcabamba. The hotel is a short walk from the town square and many simple but nice restaurants. This would be a very good choice!

GREAT HOTEL & GREAT LOCATION

A beautiful place to stay, a few steps from the centre of Vilcabamba, if you are looking for a rest this is the right place, beautiful gardens, rooms are comfortable and very clean.

It's a lovely place.

I've traveled to this hotel twice, the rooms are nice, clean and TV x cable and aa. The swimming pool is small with hot tub and turquoise but almost never taken.

Good location 

The attention was cordial, the room was comfortable and the place was beautiful, but several aspects can be improved, especially the cleanliness of the swimming pool, since it is not reliable to use and the wifi in the rooms is not good at all.
