On a budget, we try to see things in a less expensive way, find a way around the huge prices, right? This Cactus Hotel has an agency offering tours to nearby islands like Los Tunneles, the main thing to see in Isabella. It's 2 hours by banging boat. You gotta have the equipment. It's a big effort, but you know it's essential to visit. So, oh, $100 or maybe $120, a half day tour to Los Tunneles. Great! WAIT A MINUTE. To spend enough time snorkling, to see anything, you need time AT THE SIGHTS, not just getting banged up in heavy seas in a boat. They give you no time to snorkle on your own. It's a forced "follow me" deal for 30 minutes, then get going to next quick stop. GO ELSEWHERE. GET A FULL DAY. This was, for an experienced snorkler, a total rip off. I had on slip in shoes because I was told they were "perfect". For the boat, yes, for this walk, no way. Wet feet slipping around inside clogs, almost broke an ankle, finally the boat driver came to help me step all the way to the boobies, which was just about the time (10 minutes) the lecture was over. I had less than 5 minutes to photo them as people were walking back to the boat, then a passenger helped me walk back because it was nearly impossible. 2 hours of jarring and slamming back, stopped at a rock in the water with birds on top for 3 minutes. THIS IS NOT WORTH THE $100 I PAID NOR THE $120 ANOTHER GUY PAID. I can highly unrecommend Cactus Tours. They skimp because they want to do two cheap tours with young tourists who never snorkles before and have no idea they got jipped. MUCH BETTER TO PAY FOR FULL DAY TOUR TO TUNNELES, so you can have an hour of snorkling in those clear Galapagoes waters, actually see whatever fish are there (BTW, THIS IS NOT FIJI LEVEL FISH AREA, SO LITTLE COLOR IN COMPARISION). Pay extra, tell them you will not accept "rushing" and pay the extra for the real experience. I am not into bragging I went here or there. I am into experiences, memories for life. Just getting on the gear and wetsuit can be an ordeal, it should be worth the trouble. THIS WAS NOT. IF I COULD GIVE ZERO I WOULD. ATTITUDE OF GUIDE WAS HYPE AND PUSH. Additionally, he was supposed to provide an underwater file he took as part of the attraction. You had to go download it at the office. Fine, we did. It was entirely murky water, basically a few fish, a few of the faces on the trip, not worth the effort to download it. This guide just wants money. He cares very little about producing a great experience, or value for cost. I was outraged and told the nice guy I bought the tour from how terrible it was and that I would write this review.

Next to Cactus Hotel is Cactus Tours! WATCH OUT!

A couple of blocks from the beach, on the island of Isabela (Galápagos) is this simple hotel. It offers very simple rooms, with color and decoration in keeping with the place, with balcony floors, air conditioning, refrigerator and only canvas curtains for the windows. Carece, like the vast majority of commercial establishments, has hooks to hang the towels in the bathroom and a shelf for the towel items. With a nice patio at the entrance, its armchairs and tables. Without one, it is two blocks from the street of the kiosks, with a restaurant next to the other.

Good for mid-range hotels.

It's not a hotel but more than a Bed without Breakfast in the sense that you only have the room, spacious enough and equipped with a comfortable double bed, closet, a table and two chairs, a discrete shower with towels, everything very clean, and that's it. If you want to have breakfast or you do it in the nearest hotel or you buy something in the small markets of Puerto Villamil and consume everything in your room. Stay two nights no more, if you want to stay a few more days, because Isabela is a real paradise of nature, it's better to look for a more organized structure.

It's not a hotel in the true sense of the word, it's more of a Bed and Breakfast

The room had a two-seater bed, with clean sheets, air conditioning, refrigerator and bathroom suite. The staff carried out the daily towel replacement while cleaning. The attention was excellent, there was always good readiness and prompt resolution to our requirements. The hotel has only room service, breakfast must be purchased outside the premises. The hotel is close to restaurants, bars and beach.

Excellent attention, a clean place.

I stayed two nights with friends. Positive: very good location (about 10 blocks from the harbor and 2 blocks from the beach), several bars and restaurants in the area of good care of their owners, air conditioning in the bedroom, very cheap price. Negative: we found ants in one of the beds, the shower water was cold, the sheets didn't look very clean.

No, it's not for a long stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Cactus. We were looking around when we arrived in the morning and found this Hotel. The staff were nice and friendly. The rent for a dribble room was perfect compare to the others. We had a big room, a comfortable bed, warm shower and air conditioning. The wifi its just working kind of well in the area of the rezeption desk. The town centre was 3min far away the pier ca. 20min. Next to this Hotel ist a really nice beach bar which is the place to be between 5-7 pm happy hour. 

TIP: Its Sometimes easier, to come with the morning Boot when the staff of the hotel is cleaning the Rooms. I saw some travelers passing by because there was nobody to ask for the rooms. 

Good value, nice hotel 

We walked around Isabela and found this place, walking in without a reservation. They were happy to take us in, and it was a great price. There was everything we needed - a comfortable bed, A/C, Wifi (at Galapagos speeds, which is like the tortoises) and it was close to everything, including a great beach bar where lots of the tourists congregate at sunset for post-activities drinks. We were also very close to a lagoon, where you could get up in the morning and check out the pink flamingos which hang out there. 
The owners were very helpful and, using their wall map, showed us the good places to go in the region.

Great deal, great staff

We really enjoyed our star at Hotel Cactus. The staff were extremely nice and totally overdelivered. We paid next to nothing for our room for 2 nights and had a comfortable bed, warm shower and great air conditioning.  The town is tiny and I have no idea how it could take anyone 10 minutes walk to get breakfast - 5 tops. Plus, we were right next door to the pond with all the pink flamingos, and around the corner from THE happy hour beach bar. No complaints!

Great value!

Despite taking into account the particularities of this Galapagos island, we are in the presence of a modest structure consisting of really very Spartan rooms (furniture..almost nonexistent), although clean. We had a flat-floor room, with the dirt road like the island, whose privacy was guaranteed by an old sliding tent. Room however equipped with air conditioner, refrigerator and television. It is not at all a hotel as they had booked us. Breakfast is also not available and we had to make it at a small restaurant 10 minutes walk away. Unique note is the gentleness and warmth of the owner who is always activated to solve any request (beers, soaps...).
