Big room w toilet, shower and kitchen (without any equipment whatsoever). Two narrow beds, no reading lamps. No TV of course. We’re going with a group of retired people and are situated on the fourth floor without elevator. They charge around €100/night. Scandalous! 

Worst ”hotel” ever

Our third time here. This time when we checked in the receptionist noticed my wife hobbling and asked if we would like a ground floor room. I had assumed we just had to take what we got because everything in Savonlinna is booked up solid during the opera festival. But she found us aground floor room, which was much appreciated. 

Does just what it says

This summer hotel is actually a student dormitory for the rest of the year. When you match your expectations with this fact you will find it OK. The room was clean and the beds decent. The small bathroom has a good shower but the light above the mirror does not serve someone who is trying to do make-up there.
You will not find the services you would expect in a real hotel but this place offers you an opportunity to have a decent sleep at a decent price. For breakfast there is a nice cafeteria just a few hundred meters off, around the corner.

Good place for overnight sleep

Normally, this hotel is a student residence. We had a room with separate bedroom and a small kitchen equipped with oven, fridge and freezer. This is suitable for a stay of few days, but you must bring your own food and cooking utensils. There is nothing in the drawers nor any restaurant in the residence. We ended up in this place because Savonlinna was full booked or the prices were outrageous during the opera season.
Curtains in the bedroom could be thicker to protect against the morning sun (from 2 am in the summer)!

Decent place in case of emergency

One positive note is the proximity to the centre of Savonlinna and free parking. As for the interior, very bad. Reception quite slow. All kinds of cigarette containers scattered outside the hotel near the reception bench. When you entered the room there was a smell of smoke disguised as a terrible smoke-resistant deodorant. We had to open all the windows, as long as they could be opened at least... The beds are single and with mattresses covered with the sheet thrown on the bed, there is no real mattress with sheet.
