This is a difficult review to write. The cottage is great, in a beautiful spot, well equipped, a sauna house with wood oven at a pristine lake. However, there are a few things the owner won't tell you on the website. 
The minor aspect is the advertised private beach in addition to the jetty. One can see that it used to be there, but in cannot be used anymore as the path is overgrown with shrubs and the beach is overgrown with reeds. 
The more critical aspect is that the house has been built as a passive house. In principle, this would commendable and should be praised, BUT it has been implemented in a way that radically effects the comfort of your stay. Imagine you have to sleep at 22°C or warmer even when the outside temperatures are well below 15°C because you can't open windows!!! And because the ventilation system can't handle heat generated by the plain presence of the guests' bodies. The approach offered by the owner was to use the air condition in the living room to bring down the temperature there below 18°C and then cool the bedrooms with a ventilator blowing air from the living room in one of the bedrooms at a time. Of course this means all doors have to be open and the living room is pretty darn cold. This is neither practical nor energy efficient. In any case, you'll have to sleep at 22 to 24°C which impairs the nightly human recovery mechanisms so that the whole point of having a relaxing vacation in a nice place becomes somewhat futile. 
Imagine you want to enjoy the beautiful wood stove in the living room. This will heat up the living room quickly, but you'll need the AC to bring temperatures down when you want to go to bed. You could open the doors, but that aggravates the problem with the bedrooms as the central ventilation shuts down immediately when one or more doors are open, so the temperature in the bedrooms will rise and air quality deteriorates.
Our experience with comparable high quality pricy cabins is that owners tend to be generous when a small items breaks. Not the Valkonen's. We broke a coffee filter holder of an 15+ years old coffee machine, worth 16€. They asked for 30€ to replace it. Nevermind we paid 2815€ for a one week stay.
Overall, the experience has been mixed. A lovely house with major flaws and an unexpected lack of generosity.

Hapero Cottage: beautiful but failed passive house concept 

The house has every thing you need, even small details. Owner tried his best to help us with different kind of requests. Location is excellent and private. House is clean. A lot of beautiful country views to visit.

Owner care about your stay

After a 2.5 hour drive from the ferry, you can reach the beautifully situated cottage Kilpikonna. Here you can find peace in a wonderful environment. The owners always have tips for excursions. There is also a prepared map folder. The equipment is top. The electric sauna in the house is also spacious. A supermarket and restaurants can be found nearby and a large supermarket in 20 minutes in Mikkeli

The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need. The porch with the big grill is a dream. At first we got great information from the owner. Access to the lake and bathing facilities are good. The lake is quite cloudy which disturbed us a bit. We often went fishing by boat, because it means something. Access to the house is good. To the next market is only about 5 km. The owner's family still has a bathroom, sauna near the house. The next property is on the other side of the lake. The children (68) enjoyed it very much here. Always have something to do at the water or in the forest. Here you can eat and enjoy a good meal.

Relaxing families

After a long journey through Sweden and Estonia, we spent a wonderful holiday in the Kilpikkona Cottage from August 23 to September 4, 2018. The location is wonderful, from each room you have a beautiful view of the lake, the path to the slope is very pleasantly short and without stairs, etc., the cottage is modern and has everything you want. We used the large gas grill on the terrace especially intensively. The landlords were very helpful and provided us with many good tips. Overall, a very successful holiday in Ristiina, unfortunately a little far from Munich, otherwise we would book again next year.

A Dreamy Holiday in a Lovely Place

We had  an amaizing two week vacation in Valmuska cottage. This is modern house in the middle of forest next to lake. In the cottage you have all necessary equipment and even biliard!
This is very quiet place with a lot of mushrooms and good fishing from the boat ( with electrical motor).
The owners of the hous Esko and Leena are very pleasant and honest people.
Esko gave us a good recomandation about the area.

Vacation in Valmuska cottage

We stayed in Hapero Cottage (6 people and 2 additional joined in the middle). Everything was great. We enjoined the cottage,  lake-side sauna , motorboat, bikes, fishing, etc..
Every bedroom has separate bathroom + additional bathroom close to electrical sauna and toilet close to dining room. 
Kitchen is well equipped. 
Recommended for family or company of friends.

Hapero Cottage was perfect place for vacation in Finland

The villa is very spacious, clean , modern and has everything you can think of (Sauna, bikes, ping-pong table, TV, boat etc.). The photos and youtube movie are accurate! The place is quiet. The owners are very friendly. We met them as we arrived and got all the special instructions about the villa (which is Ecological). We also got travel tips and maps which was great! The place is close to a supermarket but very isolated (must have a car). We had a very good time there. A great place to relax, and spend time with the family. We really recommend this Villa (and area).

Great Villa in Finland (Valmuska)

We had a nice little family with two small children in March 2018. We were pleasantly surprised by the taste of the cottage, taking into account the smallest details for the convenience of the guests. Beautiful household appliances, everything necessary and even more. Many dishes. For children and adults - Finnish sandwiches, ice cream. It was very quiet, walking around, going to the lake, going to a small water park in Mikkeli. The store nearby also has everything necessary.

Luxury cottage

We had a beautiful, cozy winter vacation with nice walks in the snow, ice fishing, hot tub (can be enjoyed)... The landlords were very friendly and uncomplicated. The small village of Ristiina is only 5 minutes away by car and offers sufficient shopping for culinary and medical meals. For a slightly wider shopping you need to drive about 30 minutes to Mikkeli. The house is authentic and cozy, well heated (possibly with a tile oven) and includes an indoor sauna and a hot tub for 2 people.
