Decrépitude. An update is necessary... Breakfast is not a buffet and it comes down to its simplest expression, the pool is impractical, the wi-fi only works for half an hour a day, no bicycle rental, no language is spoken, the man doing everything using his Android translator to communicate. Everything else is just on the way: decommissioned building, hygiene, especially the bathroom, leaves more than desired, no TV, no music, freezing atmosphere... Well, if you like the haunted mansions go there... we run away. I still don't understand how this establishment can be classified as a hotel, the room wasn't made at the hotel... but who could say anything better about the hotel without rooms / hotels...

What else?

Shameful: very poorly maintained: mold everywhere, spiders, dust. The sofa in the room has no spring. The pool is in a deplorable condition with herbs inside and between the tiles. Breakfast is made with supermarket products. It is very difficult to communicate with the manager, speaking very poorly French and talking to Google translation. It is impossible to know who is responsible. To avoid!

The photos posted on Google or the hotel sites are not relevant at all. We only spoke to the owner once: literally 30 seconds after we arrived, we were carrying our suitcases, not even expecting to use it. We are very far from the fairy tale aspect. It was the receptionist who took care of us during the entire stay. He was hospitable, helpful and very friendly. The only good point of the stay. Very nice place, very well located to radiate around, full of charm, very quiet, very good reception and good dinner on request. We had a large room with a separate alcove so ideal for families and with a newly renovated bathroom.

Unfortunately this hotel is not as advertised - dirty, rundown and unkempt with few facilities
The inclusive breakfast was so small it was virtually non existent !!
One slice of ham and cheese each and 2 croissants - that’s it - no choice and a broken coffee machine - only one choice
This was not a hotel - as there was hardly any service - only one staff member who spoke very  little French (not his fault ) so we had to rely on google translate - and all for an expensive price !
The chateau could be so lovely with the right  care and attention given.

An unfortunate experience…..

Very welcome, warm, friendly, you feel at home! The estate is really nice and restful. Decor reflecting the atmosphere of the small estates of the time. It offers to taste wine from its vineyards which is just delicious. Pascal is a host who cares about the well-being of his guests and he has very good advice to visit and discover the surroundings both at the level of activities and restaurants. We booked the family suite with a living room, very spacious with a view of the gardens. The bunk is comfortable, storage is just enough.

It's a very beautiful area.

The castle is not maintained, the garden is in shambles, the pool is inhabited by frogs. The service is not worthy of a castle. There is no restaurant.

I'm happy ti stay in Chateau de Vallagon for summer holidays. All perfect. The owner, Pascal, was very friendly and his daughter, Berenice, very available. The vines very very good. I hope ti came again.
