It is always a great pleasure to find this place and its owners, J & P de V at such a warm welcome. Spacious and quiet rooms. Good bed and very good breakfast. The bread made by Jan is pure happiness and Pia's jams have a childhood scent. On request a dinner is possible (I recommend the boeuf bourgignon). Beautiful pool for amateurs and very good starting point to visit the area. The owners work hard to improve the existing infrastructure and we wish them all the best. Very good value for money.

Third stay at Chateau la Barge

Perfect starting point for daily trips around the Périgord, we spent 3 nights in this very well located place. We occupied 2 bedrooms "Ponceau" and "Lavande". Beds are very confortable (the one at Lavande is extra large) and there is plenty of space in the rooms. Interior decoration as always is a matter of taste and here it is kept rather neutral, which is good.
Breakfast is phantastic!! Very complete and much better than in many hotels. The bred cooked by Mr. de V. is "a pure merveille" while Mrs de V. provided us a very good diner. Don't miss her homemade marmelades! Wifi access is ok but depends on which part of the house you try to connect.. 
All this for a very reasonable price. Both owners work very hard to keep on renovating this place and to make their guests feel confortable. No doubt that in a near future, following this way and thanks to their determination to improve things, they will reach "excellent" quotations in Trip Advisors. Thank you Mr J, & Mrs P, it was very nice meeting you and you made our first experience of B&B a good one!.  
PS: For those who are interested, there is an outdoor swiming pool!

Warmly recommanded! Very good value for money.

For those of us who are Dutch and travel to Périgord, the place may be perfect, because the hotel owners are from there; but for the French we are, it's another story...Room canceled at the last minute for some (while there are rooms left), disrespect for preferences for others, French approximate when booking, little null dejissime (cheese well seen on the table), and, to put it one last layer, billing for booking fees...unprecedented!

The castle barge offers a few guest rooms, a possibility of lodging and camping, all on the same site. The campsite is on the quiet side but the guest rooms/cottages overlook the road and you hear cars, which is still a shame because the castle is far from everything, including places to visit and markets, shops and supermarkets. For the baker it is a mini 15 minutes drive, to butcher it... Finally the house in which the guest rooms/cottages are located is old, and there are only several very dangerous places for children (windows without a high bar, stairs in a composition with a mini-scale without the same deconstruction).

Far from anything and old, maybe ok as a guest room, to avoid as a hostel.

The Dutch owners rent their large garden with swimming pool to their fellow students with great discretion. Lunch included in the Dutch is almost a lunch! Delicious homemade bread with safe goods jams also home. Parking assured.
