If you have someone who wants to go there, you must absolutely discourage them objectively, the Montbéliard Tourist Board should be concerned about this.

Disappointment

A very beautiful 100-year-old mansion with its glorious past with its contemporary furniture... a good bed for a good sleep... a quiet place with a large park, a courtyard to park his car and even a cellar for bicycles... all ready from the city centre for visits... the animals are welcome... a simple and sufficient breakfast... a smiling home by the mistress of the place... a good, affordable address for passersby or those wishing to rest.

A good address in the heart of Montbéliard...

The room has nothing to do with the internet photos, the lack of hygiene rules during the COVID era, toiletries, capsules and cigarette butts under the bed, lunch not at all like the website photo, but the staff is very nice.

Hotel de France - Montbeliard

Firstly, based on the prices of the city: unbeatable. See the location: 800m from the historic centre of Montbéliard during the Christmas market in this case and 800m from a shopping area with a Flunch. The aspect: we are not enthusiastic about classic Etap type hotels so we are not disappointed with this magnificent master house type building. Of course there are things to do in this establishment such as refreshments from the Sdb, literies and isolations that would be reviewed but in your strictness but it passes for one night. The reception of the hostess is very good.

Atypical hotel and its juice

From the outside the hotel is like your imagined French chateau. Inside, age has caught up with the furnishings and bathroom. Rooms are tiny, beds too and hardly any space to turn around in the shower. Breakfast was lousy my wife said and I have to agree.Madam proprietaire was friendly throughout our ordeal.Get out your French dictionary!

Old chateau with old fixtures

Very surprising little hotel... the owner is charming and caring, quite right in her place in this establishment for which time seems to have stopped 20 years ago. It's clean, functional, the bed is of quality, the breakfast is simple but cozy. Renovated, this establishment would have a crazy charm.

The atmosphere of the '50s as if you were there

Old building with wooden floors and stairs. Parking spaces are limited. Staff was friendly and helpful but spoke only limited English. No elevator, I actually witness that guy on wheelchair have to be carried by his friends up to stairs. 
Room with big old fashioned key was small located on third floor accessible only by narrow stairway. Furniture and beds were old. Bathroom small but equipped with bath tub. 
Breakfast buffet had really limited selection of food.
All hotels were sold out which was reason I book this hotel.

Old hotel, no elevator

Montbéliard is not an interesting city for the traveler, there is little or nothing to see in it even if they say of its historic center (a couple of streets around the castle and little more), except perhaps for hiking or cycling as there is a lane to quite distant cities. However, if you stop here, the Hotel de France is not a bad option at least if you are not going with children, although it is improved in terms of maintenance and cleanliness. The positive is that it is close to the center (ten minutes walk) and in a quiet area, that the rooms have a bathroom and about 30 TV channels although all in French.

 Improved

We arrived on our bike and there was no problem leaving our two wheels there. Likewise, the manager very kindly agreed to pay for my medical treatment. The old-style hotel has the charm of the old buildings. The manager is also happy to talk about it. The simple rooms were quite convenient for us. The breakfast was nickel. Thank you for the hospitality, availability and willingness to serve.
