The Coquelicot Lodge is located high up and offers a superb view. The guests, Carin and Franck, are very welcoming and friendly. Franck knows how to advise walkers looking for a nice hike. Carin takes care of meals. We did not have dinner on the spot because we had come to join friends who live nearby, but the breakfasts were perfect: spacious and very varied. The room was spacious, well-arranged and very clean. The whole house is tastefully decorated. Carin and Franck speak French, English and Dutch, which makes contact easy. We are delighted to stay and recommend this establishment to Roselyne and Bryan.

A very pleasant stay in charming hostels

Me and my wife visited Logis Coquelicot again after our first trip was a blast. Owners were as kind as last time, and because my wifes pregnancy, they (Carin the cook )took extra care of the diner and cooked apart for her, like avoiding things such as red meat. Weather was ok, but perfect hiking weather and Frank (the guide) knows best and last but not least, you can’t get no better sunsets! See you guys next year with our baby boy!

Again and again.

We had an excellent hospitality in the Logis Coquelicot. The rooms are large and clean, the beds are comfortable. Our room had a view of the Riom ès Montagne and the valley. The breakfast offer is rich and delicious (a small improvement proposal I would have: offer cheese from the region). The dinner is lovingly prepared, varied and excellent. The portions are huge: you should bring a big hunger. A lunch package is also offered. The hosts are very friendly and willing and give a lot of tips for excursions, walks (a thick map is suggested above) or tours. We have also been prepared for a very good ride. The French city has given us a very good location, but we have not heard anything like the French Motorra, which is a very good place to eat.

The discovery of the country of the Gentians

The Dutch owners of this family run place, which overlooks the nearby town, give you a warm welcome on arrival in their spotlessly clean converted little hotel. Frank will give you advise on which walk (or bike ride) to pick that suits your interest and fitness level and sends you on your way with the right map and route description.
On your return you can relax in the new hammocks or have a drink on the covered terrace. The tasty 3 course evening meal gives you the energy to go for the next action packed day.

If you'd like to stay in during a cloudy day, the pleasant guest lounge and kitchenette allow you to spend a pleasant day indoors.

Reasonably priced, this no frills place is a good choice for the outdoor enthusiast.

Good value chambres d'hôte for the outdoor entusiast

Me and my wife visited Logis Coquelicot this week and we had a wonderful time. The owners are good cooks, every night we had a great dinner. They helped us with planning our dayly trips. Mostly the guest are hikers or cyclers, but with the car, enough cities, landmarks and villages to explore in this beautiful region. Rooms are clean and the bathrooms and beds are great. We felt like we were home and will return for sure! Oh and every night, you'll get the most beautiful sunset immaginable!

Great Bed and Breakfast

The room was very clean, the house was very tastefully decorated, the place was warm and family friendly, the meals were excellent and pleasant, and we were very pleased with our stay.

This "poppy themed" house is in an elevated position with lovely views over the town of Riom and beyond. We booked for four nights bed and breakfast and were made to feel very welcome by the Dutch owners, Carin and Franck, who can both speak English. We took up the optional extra of a 3 course evening meal, including aperitif, amuse bouche, and coffee or tea prepared by Carin and were very pleased that we did as the facilities in town are very limited at this time of year. Three convivial evenings were spent around the dining table with the other guests plus Carin and Franck and, although the menu is fixed, it is nicely varied and Carin will skilfully "tweak" a dish if there is something you really dislike. The breakfast is good - egg, cheese, yoghurt, bread, croissants, butter and preserves. A small kitchenette with microwave, fridge, coffee machine and kettle is available for guests to make their own hot drinks whenever. Wine, beer, crisps etc are available at a reasonable charge. There is a cosy guest lounge area with plenty of seating, a log burning stove and use of the computer and lots of information, maps etc about the region. Franck is an invaluable source of knowledge and advice about walking routes, suggesting ways that take into account the weather forecast and fitness of the walkers. He prints off a map for you and explains the best places to park and visit. As a result, we had three days of excellent walking in three very different areas. Our ensuite room, as the rest of the house, was spotlessly clean. Our wifi connection was good and there is ample space for car parking. An ideal and enjoyable base for exploring this part of France.

Good overall

We spent two nights with our little girl in a charming room dedicated to coconuts! rooms of extreme cleanliness, we enjoyed the welcome of the owners (we asked for breakfast scheduled from 8.30am to be served earlier - there was no pb) We didn't have the opportunity to have dinner but there were very good kitchen smells.... and Mr installed the cover outside, on a very nice view of the river.
