A beautiful castle in a nice setting. A caring owner even though some thoughts may seem inappropriate. namely: no respect for COVID standards. Arriving with our mask, the first remark of the castle owner was stop your nonsense, take this away from me immediately...

Charming owners who take the time to advise you. Unfortunately a castle that needs a lot of refreshment and not to mention the room that requires a good restoration especially the really old bathroom. Castle very isolated if you want to access Royan and the surroundings. WiFi was not capturing at all in the room. Short of 110 at night, you expected something else. Overall very disappointing for a first night spent in a castle.

Benefits Not Enough

At the end of a long corridor of brownfields and tilleuls, La Tillade presents itself as a vast estate of both chateau d'agrément and vineyard property (which produces cognac and pineau des Charentes). It is a refined family home where it is pleasant to live, thanks to the warm and joyful presence of Solange and Michel de Salvert, and also to the atmosphere they created by marrying a beautiful decorative ensemble of the 18th and 19th centuries with bright and dense colours of the best effect. On the ground floor of the rooms, one finds the same quality of furniture, enhanced by pastel linings and towels as well as the taste of each bathroom.

It's a wonderful estate, both a guesthouse and a cognac producer.

Beautiful and authentic castle with ancient and magnificent furniture. Excellent geographical location in the middle of the vineyards and in absolute calm. Spacious and comfortable rooms. Super good dinner and a delicious breakfast with homemade jams. The owners are charming. One can taste and buy pine and cognac from the castle. The hostess has a great passion for painting which she practices in her workshop located in an annex to the castle.

Castle life

Very bad experience with these hosts whose services are not worthy of the claimed price of 110€ per night. First of all, we had indicated our arrival between 6pm and 7pm. We find the door closed on our arrival. Beautiful building certainly but very isolated. Unpleasant odor of old furniture. It is necessary to prepare. Disappointment at the discovery of the room and especially the bathroom is squarely old (no photos on the site). No spraying and an old soap as a shower gel. Aged mattresses. No phone service, no internet, no high-quality restaurants in the immediate vicinity network despite the owner's suggestions to booking. We are quickly assumed to be convenient in paying half the price for these off-site accommodation in an inappropriate way.

Benefits not up to the price

A lovely champagne castle in the middle of nature between Saints and Cognac received by a charming and very welcoming couple Count and Countess in a setting full of history with a light meal despite the tip of the foie gras and cognac of the property, but which overall suited our demand

A beautiful and charming discovery

Beautiful old castle, big rooms, while the furniture are mostly antiques the matress is very new and comfortable, and the ensuite bathroom is very modern too with a nice hot shower. The Chateau is situated between 2 villages amidst fields and vineyards, I enjoyed the really dark night, nice not to have to deal with light pollution for a change. The hosts are very friendly and knowledgeable and give you good tips where to go and what to see. The hostess is also good painter, so I ended up buying a picture too. I'll definitely go back there!

Living like a Princess

We stayed at the La Tillade chateau for one night. The only disappointment was that we had to leave !
The host are very friendly and helpful, they know the area very well since they were born and raised here. The chateau has been with the family of the owners for many generations.
The rooms are very large and cosy. Very clean as well.
The breakfast is delicious, with home-made honey and jam.
You can also drink the cognac from the property.
