The two nights spent in this guest room were very pleasant. The room is large and clean. Many small attention is given to you there. The breakfast offered is as generous as the owners, there is nothing missing.

Hello. We spent one night in the guest room, we loved our stay. The hostess is very friendly and hospitable. The room met our expectations well (cleaning + romantic decoration and camping). The breakfast was full, varied and copious. The setting of the house is pleasant and soothing; a sweet break. Thanks again for saving us at the last minute:D! See you soon!

It's a little corner of heaven.

It's a beautiful night, a short one (slept at 4am and got up at 8:30am!) spent on the occasion of the wedding of Philippe and Anne! The reception is very warm, the rooms are superbly arranged! Breakfast is served with the smile of the owners Isabelle and Thierry who are super nice! An address has been withheld and recommended! Just a little parenthesis I apologize Isabelle I accidentally took the liquid soap when packing our toiletries!!!! Mathieu and Sandrine de Dole!!

It's a very good address in our very beautiful county!

On our way back from Italy, we stopped there for a night. We were welcomed and enjoyed the family room for 3 people (2 separate bedrooms + bathroom). It is an old building that has kept its charm from the past. We had a great quiet night. In the morning we had a pleasant breakfast. At the gates of Alsace is very well located to explore the area. For us it will be another time. Thank you to Isabelle for her kindness.

A good address in a beautiful area

We made this booking on booking.com. We were advised that only cash was acceptable for payment. We paid cash, then to our surprise we received an email from booking.com that we were a  no show and saw a  64 euro charge.  I reported the facts to booking.com and they removed  the  charges. My wife took date stamped photos of our room so we can definitely prove our case. 
   We won't recommend this bitter experience to anyone.

Scammed 

This is a family run chambres d'hote which I happened on whilst around Alsace on business and looked for a place for an extra night just to relax before coming home.
It is clean, comfortable and reasonably priced.
The owner, Mme Verbecke is warmly welcoming and friendly.  She goes out of her way to make sure that her guests are well-looked after.
It is in a quiet village, typical of the region, picturesque and friendly.
As I was only there to have a night's relaxation, I was not interested in night-life etc. just something to eat and then sleep.
There is no evening meal facility for the time being at Aux Portes d'Alsace, so I went out and found somewhere reasonable.

Pleasant and Comfortable Stay

We actually had another farmhouse in mind, but this one was booked and we were kindly pointed out to the Ports of Alsace, where there was still a room. A warm, laughable welcome from Isabelle and Eric and we knew immediately that we were well taken care of here. The room was generous and well equipped (water boilers, TV, plenty of storage space). Isabelle and Eric had a wide selection of prospects for the region and also liked to give more tips. They are interested in their guests, but are not intrusive. We also spoke excellent German Eric. We unfortunately could not speak the beautiful garden because the weather was unfriendly. Detail: Roce has a luxurious port near the Swiss border, even if you can't feel it.

A Home in the Distance

From the moment you meet your hosts, Isabelle and Eric, you feel as if you are among friends rather than staying at a bed and breakfast.  Eric welcomed us with a glass of beer and refreshing juice on the delightful patio, together with a little conversation.  Did we, he wanted to know, wish to dine with them that evening?  Of course, there was an extra charge for the meal but it was more than worth it, but I will get to that in a moment.  First of all, the house...

It is an old house beautifully removated and tastefully decorated with the little touches that make a house into a home.  The rooms are just lovely.  No plastic modernity here.  Each room is individually decorated up-market country, a mixture of modern and old blended together to make bedrooms anyone would want to take home with them, yet the bathrooms, while retaining a country feel, are bang up-to-date.  My husband and I took the suite and here it is worth pausing to note that although it is two separate rooms, it would be more suited to a family travelling together rather than friends in the same party, only because to reach the bathroom, you have to pass through the sitting/extra bed area.  We solved this problem by having our friend, travelling with us, take a room of his own, but I thought I would mention it lest, like us, you expect two totally separate bedrooms, as you might find in the USA, for example.

Anyway, once we were settled, we went out onto the patio where Eric was busy setting the table for dinner and his wife busied herself cooking.  What a treat we were in for!  The best quiche any of us have tasted in a long time, for starters, followed by duck, then a selection of cheeses and finally a dessert, all accompanied by some excellent wine as we enjoyed an evening of convival conversation with Isabelle and Eric.  What is different and interesting about the meal is that it isn't like dining at a restaurant.  You don't get to pick and choose what you will have.  Instead, it is like dining with friends and even though this is clearlly a business for the hosts, they pour their hearts into it, making you feel very welcome and very special.  If I had to caution on anything, it would be that the stairs - old and naturally uneven - might not be suitable for the very old or for handicapped people.  As for us, we will defnitely be back!
