A small chateau hotel filled with amazing antiques and managed by the ever-friendly and helpful Eric. Great breakfasts, stunning and comfortable room. A place to forget all the troubles of all the world.

Like Living in a Movie with an Eccentric Star

Château De L’Olivier is a transformative destination far away from the typical hotel and B&B’s.  Eric and his partner have created a beautiful home in which you feel privileged to share for a few nights. I suggest at least 3!   Everything that can been done in the transformation and restoration of this historical landmark has been done with a deft touch toward the maintenance and preservation of a classic Château with exceptional period antiques and with an eye toward the perfect blending of modernization.  
Pristine rooms with gorgeous bathrooms, luxurious beds and linens, along with everything else one can imagine, all under Eric’s watchful helpful, warm and friendly eye.   
Sublime and simple breakfasts with croissants and baguettes that Eric travels miles for.  They are incredible!!  Jams and other treats and well made coffee start each day.
Even the house pooch William is a star here. Go.


A wonderful place for all you can imagine 

... you’re thinking of Château de l’Olivier. Elegant approaching opulent, yet comfy and friendly and enlivened with a delightful sense of humor. The decor is haute 18th century, but the bathrooms are strictly 21st and so is the air conditioning! Not easy to find in France! The hosts took on a huge challenge in taking this gorgeous old mansion from a state of disrepair to one of absolute civilization, complete with swimming pool, golf, and books books books. We stayed two nights and practically cried when we had to leave. I really cannot recommend Château de l’Olivier highly enough. We will never forget our visit to pre-Revolution France  (except with excellent mechanicals) and would return in a heartbeat for at least three nights!

When you think of a Château...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. It was exquisitely appointed, the beds and pillows super comfortable, and Eric is a great host.
My only regret about staying here was that we spent so much time touring the nearby chateaux that we didn’t allow ourselves enough time to enjoy the property itself, with its pool, terraces, and beautiful sitting rooms. Next time (and there will be one!) I promise myself the afternoons off!

Lovely stay at the Chateau de L’Olivier

We arrived here following an 11 night stay in the Perigord at a medieval Manoir and suddenly we were forwards in time to the 1780’s.
The Chateau is furnished as it would have been at the end of the eighteenth century with great attention to authenticity and detail. This being said the bedroom was very comfortable and the bathroom had modern facilities. Sitting in the living room was like being plunged back into a Jane Austen novel . A fabulous experience.
The Chateau is in a good position , a short bike ride along a river path from Tours. If Chateaux are your thing it is in a good centre for exploring them. We got to five in our seven night stay.
Breakfasts were simple, pastries and fruit but always beautifully presented in elegant surroundings with soft Baroque music in the background.
The Chateau De L’Olivier has a good pool to relax by after Chateau visiting overload.
Eric and Rudolph were superb hosts doing all that they could to make our stay enjoyable, and we really did enjoy everything about our stay .

We finished a 3-week tour of France with a little pearl called the Château de l'Olivier... the reception there is simply remarkable, the castle restored with taste and refinement! and Talleyrand, William and Napoleon (the dogs), finished filling us up! Our room was beautiful and as I'd like to say since our stay, if we had a castle, it would be closer to what is the Château de l'Olivier.

It's just exceptional.

You come to an aristocratic home, and they run to greet you and take you to your room, next to a lavish living room, the bedroom and bathroom are no less. A little later, you come down to dinner and walk past an extraordinary kitchen. The dining room would make you think you're invited to a friend's house that welcomes you with all due respect. The price is reasonable given all these wonders.

This place is so beautiful, the welcome so charming, the rooms so luxurious that you hardly dare to believe it.

We've just spent three wonderful days at Eric and Olivier's all quiet and luxurious every room is original and all have an indefinable charm the table is exquisite and the service perfect without being ostentatious in short we feel good and out of time we'll be happy to come back on a future visit to this beautiful region

Excellent hotel, if owner very friendly 100% recommended place.... do not hesitate to stay here Hotel de solo 5 rooms with a very personalized attention.

Excellent!! Superb property from the 18th century! An exceptional setting and a welcome worthy of this era! The furnishings and decoration of the era are simply falling apart! The rooms, by theme, are perfect! to see and live!!
