Very clean and the hostess was very polite and helpful but the property needs a little modernising and you had to be careful with the logo as they were having problems with the fosse.Beds were quite comfortable and the grand house was quiet.
However there was really no where to sit comfortably and the wifi only really worked if you sat in the hallway which doubled as the breakfast table. There was no key to the front door so you felt obliged to come back early from dinner so she could lock up. More difficult as there really isn't much in Villefagnan.
It was a convenient location for us but I would look elsewhere if I was coming to the area again.

Ok nothing special.

Beautiful grounds with buildings of magnificent splendor is the only way to describe this chateau. The hostess was initially grumpy as I buzzed on the wrong door - I didn't see the driveway going around to the back, and there were no signs telling me otherwise. But after that mistake, it was brilliant. As you approach the front door and enter - there is a huge entrance hall with a sweeping staircase behind it.  It's very shabby chic on the outside, and the shutters on the top floor (3rd) indicated the floor was not used. The hostess was very welcoming, but she didn't speak a single word of English and my French is non existent at the moment. My room was beautiful, simply furnished with a gorgeous muslin drape at the head of the bed. Bathroom right outside the door, with full bath and shower and fresh towels, and hair drier. Sink in the room, with kettle, bottled water, and large selection of tea and some coffee, no milk. I was hungry and she kindly prepared the dining table in the entrance (grand entrance) and served me tea, cheese and a sweetbread. I slept very well. The silence was palpable until a family arrived with an obviously tired child who wouldn't stop crying for a while.  But that was ok.  Wifi only worked in the entrance. It would have been nice to have some mini shampoo and shower gel, which is what I expected - I travel very light with just a small bag so don't take toiletries. My room was up two flights of stairs with a view over the side of the house.

Enchantment in the heart of the French Countryside

This is a beautiful house where customers are treated as valued guests by the owner a charming and experienced owner. Ideal for the traveller seeking a new experience in a lovely setting a million miles from corporate soulless hotels . A chance to glimpse a house with features dating back many centuries , but which affords modern day comforts .

A beautiful tranquil place

We stayed three nights at the Cantinolière's Lodge, everything was perfect, a spacious, comfortable and most of all very quiet room, a very good breakfast, a friendly and caring reception, and we'll be back!

It's a great stay.

I have never stayed anywhere where the landlady was so kind.  We were there for my cousin's wedding and it was a bank holiday.  The landlady rang every restaurant within 15 km to find us one that was open. Then, on the day of the wedding she brought breakfast up to the room to make it easier for my 92 year old mother to get ready for the wedding. 

More than that it was a beautifully appointed place and lovely to stay in.  I thoroughly recommend it.
