My predecessors all write about how kindly they were received. I can't say. We weren't received kindly, no tips or the trip was good. One example: I asked if there was a back door to the parking lot. The answer is if I had told them. It's a shame that the host couple didn't even laugh. We had rooms 25, simple furnished but clean. The bed is big, the mattress is well prepared and the rust is on the headrest. In the room there is a large closet with many compartments. The flat screen has a narrow picture at the bottom, at the top and a very small part missing. The bathroom is equipped with bathroom sinks and very neatly furnished churches. The bathroom tiles are well-equipped. The kitchen table is furnished. The bed is large, the mattress is well prepared and the breakfast is fine. The room is very small, but the kitchen is very small. Nice hotel in the middle of town

A nice little hotel, right in the centre of town, with good rooms and service. On arrival you can park in front of the hotel as a short car. The actual parking lot is about 150 m behind the hotel. The breakfast buffet was always as you wish. We could only use the restaurant meal on the first day since it was the second day of rest. From Schönberg you can start many tours through the Bavarian forest.

Beautiful family-run hotel with restaurant in the Bavarian forest

Very nice hotel with extremely friendly owners. The breakfast buffet is offered with sufficient selection and nicely arranged. In the evening you can choose from the menu very tasty and affordable dishes. Another big plus: the hotel is in the middle of the market... very homey.

Kind and kind

This is the third year I have supported the winter motorcycle rally (Elephantentreffen) and I have always found myself very well. Great hospitality, excellent services (including the sauna already included in the price) better prices than nearby hotels, indoor motorcycle parking (included in the price but the hotel owners are also passionate about motorcycles!).

The hotel Zur Post in Schönberg is a family-run hotel in Schönberg, Bavaria. It is impressive how much work the married couple Bothmann do alone. During breakfast there was always a great choice. At dinner I always got a 5-course menu as part of the half-pension. It could always be chosen from two main dishes. In Schönnau there are very many own hiking trails that are all very beautiful. As a personal highlight, I recommend the trek to Passau which is certainly not easy at 35 - 40 km. Since we once got lost, we had to cancel the trek unfortunately due to the loss of time. The people in the village are all very small as you would normally expect from Bavaria.

Nice family-run hotel with a very tasty restaurant

We were there as a couple for 2 days, including breakfast. We also had to park in the windmill and the lady was gone. Then we were allowed to go back to the room and on which floor was this hotel. Then we were told to go back to the hotel. We fought through a alleyway to the hotel. We went to the front entrance to get directly into the restaurant area. We were then asked to go straight through this hallway to get to the reception. Here we were quickly explained in the windmill and the lady was gone. Then we were told to go back to the room and on which floor this hotel was located. Then we were told to go back to the kitchen table. When we went down the hallway to the hotel, we were told to go back to the bathroom. When we got down the hallway to the second floor, we found a very good ticket. We asked the hostess, If you're going down the hallway and you're going to the front door, but the bar is so cold, then you're going down the hallway, but unfortunately, some of the guests were so unwilling to go back to the kitchen. It's a nice hotel, but the boss...

I stayed with a friend on a motorcycle trip in the early days of February 2013. The hotel is in a good location, has an internal motorcycle parking lot, is well maintained and has rooms that are sufficiently large and clean. The breakfast is good and the bar next to the entrance is also cozy. The price-quality ratio is good.

Small but cozy and nice hostel

Many might believe that this is just another small town family hotel, but it is not that.  Marion & Detlef Bothmann are great hosts, and they run a very fine hotel in a small town, Schonberg, in the Bayerischen Wald.  We were very pleasantly surprised to find upon our very late arrival, both owners were still working their bar, and we didn't have to ring the night bell.  We were warmly welcomed, and given tourist packs with many brochures concerning things to do in the area, and informed of the features of the hotel.  We had come to go walking in the forests and mountainous country side, and were able to do that very easily.  There are a lot of things to do in the are, and it's very easy to spend an entire week relaxing and touring around this lovely part of Germany. 

The hotel is a very well kept up structure right in the center of Schonberg. The building is not new, but it has been recently refurbished and looked after with loving care.  You can pull into the courtyard to unload your luggage, and then drive around the small block to the large parking area.  Do not park in front of the hotel without the proper credentials, or you will be ticketed.  There are time limits on the limited parking spaces.  Well done by the city and the integrity of the city center is well preserved by no excess parking.  There is a very nice patio area in front of the hotel where you can sit and eat and drink, and of course they have a very nice dining room with outstanding food.  Don't miss it.  The breakfast is buffet style, and everything is there that you would expect and want in a good buffet. 

The room that we had was of a good size, and had a table with two chairs as well as two more comfortable sitting chairs, a feature that many smaller hotels seem to forget that one needs during rainy or snowy days after skiing.  Our room had good lighting, very clean, and the windows were all of the new double paned insulated type, worked perfectly.  For me, I was very happy to find the radiators responded almost immediately when turned them on to take the chill off of cool April nights. Bathroom was super clean, dazzling white, and there was space enough to hang up and lay out all of the clothing from our cases.   

The hotel also provides a computer for the use of guests, and free WiFi.  They also have a cute convertible sports car that can be rented at a very reasonable price.
