Lila Vendeghaz

Close to the center, really nice and helpfull manager. Clean room. Water is drinkable but has perhaps strange smell. Nice inside green patio, secured parking, even a garage available. Affordable prices.

Great

Lila Vendeghaz is located on a leafy street, 30 minutes walk from the main bus station and only minutes from the centre of town. Although our 2nd floor twin room faced the street (and tram line) , it was very quiet at night due to the double paned windows. Our room did not have a mini-fridge, microwave or coffee maker but Diana was very kind in providing us with a kettle, so it was fine for one night. We paid 35 euros for our room but you can also pay a little extra and have a small breakfast. The fair sized room which also had a small vestibule, was spotless, as was the bathroom. The bed was comfortable with a nice duvet  but the pillows were rather flat. We really enjoyed our stay at Lila Vendeghaz- Diana is a lovely, friendly English speaking woman who was very welcoming, and so easy to talk to- she was very gracious in allowing us to stay later than the normal check out time, very sincere and concerned about my sore foot, and helpful in calling a cab for our departure. If you want to see beautiful architecture in a charming town, stroll along the river and admire the old town, come to Szeged - and stay at Lila Vendeghaz.

A charming guesthouse and host

I can't share the good reviews so far. The photos on the net get the best from the location. The garden is basically a green wall. The little courtyard has barely four seats. The setup was simple and convenient. The location to the central attractions is still okay. It's close to the theatre. A tourist river ride is not possible. The bathroom was only okay at first glance. The shower hold was calcified and rusted and the inside of the doors was probably just cleaned open. The bottom was rust and mold. I had nothing against simple, but clean it should always be okay. Breakfast was simple and. I was unfortunately missing an egg.

On the way to Pusta

The B&B Lila Vendeghaz met all our requirements: it is easily accessible by car (although the entrance is not very obvious), the inner courtyard is a quiet corner and the car has earned itself a covered parking space, the center is then a few minutes walk away. Our room had two single beds as requested and everything was clean and orderly. The fifth ball deserves the owner, the classic person who seems not to be there, is discreet, but as soon as necessary, kind and available (he also made it clear to us in the morning).

A pleasant stop

The hostel is actually a house located on one of the main streets from Szeged. It is very easy to arrive in this area, however may be difficult to identify the respective house among the others as it hasn’t a big sign so that to be easily identified if driving.

The hostel is centrally located, minutes away from the city center and Tisza River. The area is quite pleasant, clean, with many trees.

Sandor (probably the owner of the house) was happy in welcoming us indicating to bring the car in the courtyard and park it in one of the two existing garages. The courtyard is gorgeous with many flowers. 

We had a street view room. The room was big enough and it didn’t look like a hotel room, but as a living house room. No air conditioning, but didn’t need it at all, although outside there were about 35 C, and the trees bunch from the street kept the sun shine away. We also found a fan, but again it was quite good inside the room. The room furniture was in good condition, the bad mattress suitable for a good rest.

The bathroom was clean and big, but it hadn’t an outside window to evacuate the shower stream.

Upon arrival Sandor asked us what we would like for the next morning breakfast, probably he went to the market in that afternoon. Next day the breakfast (which is served in a special nice area within the house basement) had what we asked (vegetables, eggs, salami) and additionally Sandor brought some other things including orange juice, coffee, etc. It was really good.

Be aware that in case you want to pay directly at the reception you cannot pay by card, but only in cash (Euro or HUF).

Although we stayed just one night in our way to Budapest, we really liked this place in Szeged (forgot to take pictures) and Sandor was a very nice guy. Thanks for all, man!
