Authentic trade amongst locals. 
Markets set before sunrise  & broken down around 8am before the tourists hit the streets for their fix of rustic Balinese  coffee.
It's a busy hustle and well worth the trip if you want to see the locals version of a supermarket with snap fresh vegetables and engage in some bartering.  Rule of thumb, you pay half of the original price or shoulder a local and see what they pay. 
Potentially avoid the basement butchery if your queezy.


UBUD FARMERS MARKET

This hostel is perfect if you are trying to stay close to the center of Ubud. It is in walking distance of the major attractions. The service is very helpful and kind. The accommodation is what’s to be expected of a hostel, but if that is what you are looking for then this is a good place to stay at a good price. If you want a nicer place than don’t stay at a hostel, period. I was nice and comfortable here and would recommend it for other solo travelers.

Market hostel

Good location, right in centre of Ubud. The little enclosed bunks are good and you can fit a lot of your stuff in there. There's hot water. Unfortunately this is the only good thing about this hostel. 
Toilet door broken, no locks on toilet or shower door, no keys for lockers and no way to padlock them. Luckily I don't own anything valuable. Shower is a hose because the top has come off and couldn't be reattatched. The light in my friends bunk was broken, in both bunks the plug sockets were loose. 
I could cope with all this as it it's cheap, however the entire place is dirty. I'm not a clean freak. Stains on my sheets, didn't see them change the bedding between guests once, or cleaning the rooms. Bins weren't emptied everyday either. Every morning I woke up with bites. I have no been bitten in Bali during the day or night anywhere else, so it was quite concerning. Staff were unhelpful, and sometimes just rude. They spent a lot of time sleeping in the common areas, when other guests wanted to check in I had to wake them up a couple of times. The one who seemed to be the owner was nice, he did most of the work which is probably why he was always sleeping.
You can get much for the se price, don't waste your money. 

Better places for the same price. 

It’s cheap to stay here and convenient since it’s right on top of the market, but that’s it. They advertise free tea and coffee for guests all day yet there isn’t actually any available and there are only 2 cups to use. There is also hardly ever any staff available to ask questions. I’ve seen them twice out of the several times I’ve looked. The water tank has been completely empty since last night and evidently no one has changed it. They advertise free breakfast, and they do prepare 4 plates of crepes. That’s it. 4 plates- not each. It’s a first come first serve basis. They are simply left out on the side in the open air. If you’re looking to stay one night and then leave then this is fine, but it’s good for all to know that this is borderline false advertisement/ they do the absolute minimum to meet their own claims

Great value with private pods and included breakfast in the already cheap price. Female only dorm is great. Convenient location in the heart of Ubud. Budget accommodation but value and clean. Thanks for having me!

Enclosed and private pod dorm

The hostel is located very close to Monkey Forest and inside the Market.It is super small and only has the rooms with a terrace.It is very basic.The eight-person bedroom costs 50,000 IDR per night.The shower was transparent.Solo stayed one night there.

Good location, basic hostel.

Unfortunately, everything else is more complicated: the hostel is arranged in 3 bedrooms of 6 beds with toilets for each of the bedrooms. These toilets are more than old, very cradled and do not give desire. The maintenance is clearly to be reviewed. The mattresses when they are of poor quality and the cleanliness of the litter remains a question. The most common problem of this hostel is that it is directly adjacent to the home of the owner and his entire family who are then taken to the dorms, the bathrooms and the restroom, and sometimes the restroom is very busy.

Not top!

Couldn't have asked for more from this hostel given the amazing price! It's just one room with 10 bunk beds, but the air con keeps it cool, there were showers, toilets and sinks adjoining the room at the back. Met some likeminded travellers my age which was great as well as older friendly people. Good quality bunk beds, every bed with a plug socket and storage box. Can put a deposit for a locked safe. Free tea/coffee/water and sometimes biscuits! Staff speak little English but were still helpful! 

Great for price

Stayed in this hostel for 4 nights and then extended to another 2 nights. This hostel is in good location in the centre of ubud. They have safety deposit boxes and hot showers. The hostel is clean and they change your bedding daily. Is odd  though that  I found the workers to be chilling on your bed while they were in the middle of changing it! I did read some reviews about this. This is a good hostel though and I would
Recommend it. The wifi is really good throughout the hostel. 

Good hostel with good wifi 

One large room with all the beds inside, bottom bunks have curtains and are a tad more expensive but worth it if you want some privacy or sleep before the lights go out at 11pm. 
Staff are friendly and help organise activities and transport. 
Great location just a short walk to shopping, restaurants and the monkey forest. 
Not too much going on at the actual hostel but good to explore the surrounding areas.
