I stayed in a private room and had a really good experience. It had a small desk and big windows. The hostel provides you with a towel and washcloth (I made the mistake of renting one before knowing this). I was surprised to have my own little sink and mirror in the private room! The showers are good. When I stayed there, there was a loud concert happening in the basement bar. The music was really good, but keep in mind that this isn't the kind of place to stay if you need to sleep early. The common area is a good place to connect with other travelers. The cafe downstairs is pretty popular in the morning.

Great place for young travelers to stay and socialize

We booked the large king room which provided an extremely comfortable stay for two in Tokyo! 

The hostel is well situated, within a five minute walk from three different metro lines, as well as various convenience and grocery stores and restaurants. The room itself was large and comfortable, although in the winter, the floor hall remained very cold. The space is modern and clean and we only once saw anyone else on our floor. There is noise from outside the building (most notably a bell that chimed at 4:30 pm), but we were able to get excellent sleep. We stayed on the seventh floor, which only had female showers, but it was not a problem to go down one flight for the male showers. 

The cafe provides delicious breakfast options, from a full breakfast plate to granola or a pastry. They also have decaf, which can be more difficult to find in Tokyo. The downstairs lounge is stylish and comfortable with wonderful drink and snack items (we did not have a full dinner) as well as an excellently curated playlist. 

Finally, the staff was always polite, helpful, welcoming, and warm! Citan is highly recommended if you do not mind sharing a shower and bathroom with others.

Convenient and comfortable stay

Just a short walk from the nearest station and if you are up to it, you can even walk to Tokyo station. Room and bed were clean, so were the showers. Not much of a complaint as I only stayed for one night.

Convenient location

I would totally stay here again.  Very clean and with a friendly staff and modern amenities. The area it is in is pretty quiet but still has sushi, bistros, soba, a brewery, and some shops very close by.  Also the trains are close.  As a couple we paid for the private room and were happy with the space.  Also the small lounge is comfortable.  Also the staff was great and helped us make a reservation for massage.

Excellent hostel in quiet locals area of Tokyo

First time ever staying in a hostel. Comfortable cosy beds. Lockers provided per person. Towels are available for rental and there's soaps and hair dryers for free use. Showers and rooms are cleaned daily. The cafe provides simple breakfast and the bar downstairs have drinks and food for dinner time. Certain nights have DJs playing and they do have tours around the area daily. All in all a comfortable stay. Highly recommended especially from someone who's never stayed at a hostel pr travelled alone before.

A hostel that resembles a fancy Australian hostel (clean, designed, functional but without any personality and soul) with the quality of Japanese service!

That's a good option for Tokyo.

We booked a king size room in Tokyo for five nights and couldn't have been happier. It was a hugely spacious room with a large bed and we were also lucky enough to have our own sink. The shared showers and bathrooms were exceptionally clean and we never had to queue to use them. 

It's in a bit of a quiet area of Tokyo, which means a few subway stops to all the popular nightlife - but it didn't bother us as it's so close to so many subway stops to get you all over Tokyo.

Brilliant hostel in Tokyo

Very nice new youth hostel and decorated in an industrial style. The bedrooms are well thought out and functional. The hidden curtains allow for good insulation. The common areas and especially the showers are clean and comfortable. The hotel's café and bar/restaurant are very pleasant and the price/quality ratio is good. The staff is friendly and speaks good English. The location is very good: in a neighbourhood not too touristy of Tokyo but close to these and several metro lines that allow you to visit everything easily

Good accommodation in Tokyo

If I come back to Tokyo, I’ll stay here. Not a far walk from a station, there is also food nearby. You can buy coffee, breakfast lunch, dinner. It is super cute inside and they have a restaurant/bar type area with excellent food options. They had dj playing jazzy folk type music. Lots of people were hanging out and gave a fun community energy to it. All of my staff interactions have been great, they’re so friendly ! We got a room for two, the bathroom and showering spaces are nice too! 

Good vibes, friendly staff, cool hangout area/restaurant 

Citan was the perfect place to stay on our trip to Tokyo! Very close to all train stations and hardly a hostel with an adjoining cafe, bar, and restaurant!  The staff were all extremely friendly, always accommodating and available to help whenever you needed. We liked that it was a little tucked away, but surrounded by cute little eateries and a great ramen place a short walk away!  The Station convenience store next door was extremely handy and we couldn't have asked for more.  We had a little trouble finding it on the first night, but stayed 2 weeks in total and couldn't have been happier!  Will stay again.
