Eight of us stayed in 4 rooms in Hotel Floris for 4 nights.  We knew the hotel didn’t have good reviews, so our expectations were low, but we  were still disappointed. Some of the issues: 
•	Rooms not cleaned well: we found hairs, food residue, cigarette packets, insects.
•	One room had to share a toilet with other guests (this was known in advance) but the toilet did not have a toilet seat.  This made it unusable.  
•	Smells of damp, drains, and cigarette smoke.
•	One room had a ceiling that leaked when it rained.
•	All the rooms had stains on the ceilings from leaks/damp. 
•	One room had an en suite wet room that drained into the room.
•	Cigarette burns on the furniture and window sills.
•	The window in one room leaked when it rained

Customer service was very poor.  I emailed in advance to check whether breakfast was included (the website wasn’t clear), but both of my emails were ignored.  Our complaints about the missing toilet seat and the cleanliness of the rooms were also virtually ignored.  We were told that they couldn’t do anything about the toilet seat.  

Yes, it’s cheaper than a lot of other options in Rotterdam, but we would have preferred to have been in a well-maintained hostel.  I would not stay here again.

One star is too many: avoid like the plague

In 2017 there should not be a place like this, or at least not as a hotel. I stayed for 2 nights in a room that a hotel today should not even use as a detergent storage. Small, but above all devoid of all those characteristics that can be collected in a single term: decency. Loose walls, holes and cracks in the ceiling, pipes in sight. It wasn't a hotel room, it was a fortune hotel from the post-war years to which you can access from the main staircase through a urine tank. The room didn't even have the bathroom, a detail I knew; I thought, however, that I would find it outside the same room, and instead I was organized this way: next to my door was a room with toilet, a urine toilet, while the showers were so unlawful... but I didn't consider it illegal to go to the other side of my bed, but I didn't arrange it with a toilet, but I didn't see it.

Unacceptable, indescribable, unqualified

In the hotel there's a consistent smell of a mixture of tobacco and a toilet air freshener. In the room it's disgustingly dirty, someone else's hair was found on the pillow. There's little light (apparently so that dirty laundry doesn't get so obvious) and the cherry on the cake - in our room from the closet (she's got a crow hole in there) the mouse came out at night and scratched.

It's disgusting.

A really awful smell when you enter the hotel. Steep and narrow stairs. In the room no wifi, mould on the ceiling, smell of cigarettes. The walls are thin like paper. We needed a place to sleep for one night and we left already 7 hours later. Definitely NOT to recommend!

I just reserved in other hotel wich was close (and looked way nicer) and when i phoned them they send me to this place. Bad smelling, room look older than my grandparents house, the roof was half white half yellow, i had to carry my suitcase (25 kg) 3 floors over the minuscule stair....

Horror movie hotel

The stairs are very steep inside. The staff are Turkish. The rooms are old, they're cramped. It's not very comfortable. It's generally better than the hostel, but worse than any hotel I've ever lived in before.

A good alternative to spending the night outdoors... no more.

The Hotel Floris is a budget hotel, providing a room;  an optional breakfast is available at only an extra EU5 per person.
It is a little tired, but our triple room was clean (a previous reviewer complained about the 'yellow sheets', but ours were clearly meant to be this colour!)  Our bedding was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the shower was perfectly fine, with plenty of hot water and clean towels that were changed frequently - 3 times during our 7 day stay.  the breakfast was basic, but value for money.
There was a problem with using our credit card to pay, as the machine was not working; however, the staff agreed that cash need not be paid until the end of our stay in case the machine was fixed by then.  It wasn't, so we paid cash on the Friday of our stay.
The staff were pleasant and friendly.  You need to be fit to stay here as the stairs are incredibly steep and there is no lift.

Yes, it's tired but an infusion of about Eu20,000 would set it right!  I would stay here again as it is so convenient for my needs when I visit Rotterdam.

Recent visit to family

A good budget hotel on one side in a quiet courtyard near the center, on the other side of a bustling street with lots of bars and restaurants. To the center it takes about 10-15 minutes to walk, next to the tram stop. Breakfast is for 5-10 euros per person, downstairs there is a bar, there is wifi. We went to a company of 4 people for one night, rented a common room with 4 beds, with amenities in the hallway. The room has a TV, a sink. One night with taxes it cost 95 euros for four. Everything is clean and nice.

An economical hotel for a couple nights.

The building is left to himself ever since. The ceiling is falling apart,the bathroom is missing some parts like the sliding door in the shower.
The sheets are so old and yellow that u might think to be in some horror movie.
Let's say that if you don't mind about it,it's ok. You can do one night,but no longer. It is also quite dirty.

How many memories I still have of the Hotel Floris in Rotterdam, all the Easter holidays of my childhood and adolescence spent in that little hotel in the agraaf Floris Straat. What nostalgia. I went back there about four or five years ago with my now elderly father, and my husband for three or four nights.
