You feel at home.The owner Maribel is very attentive.The treatment is very familiar.There is little to see.We took it as a half-destination hotel bedroom.No big luxuries but willing and attentive Maribel so that you will not miss anything.Familia Morales -Pajuelo (Extremadura)

A family hotel.

Everything was fine except that we were allowed to pay by card and were asked in cash without giving us any invoice or ticket.After asking for a proof of payment, he only gave us a card on which he placed the amount paid.The room smelled good but very humid.

Walking the Camino, I really needed the comfort that this little hotel has to offer. My room was perfect; spacious and clean and comfortable. The ladies in charge were very friendly and helpful. They did my laundry, fed me and made sure I was ok. So happy was I that I stayed 2 nights. On my rest day I climbed up to the Castillo above the village and that was one of the most memorable times for me in my whole 3 weeks on the Camino. I had the castle to myself and the views from up there on the hill were epic. They provided the best photos of my whole trip. I'm so glad that I did not rush through Castrojeriz and miss experiencing both the picturesque village and the castle with its views. Very memorable and a highly recommended hotel. Lovely hotel garden for customer use too. Just loved this village!

Just perfect!

We booked our room on agoda.  The owner was quite business-like although pleasant. The female staff member who checked us  in was very lovely, cheerful and helpful. The kind of person who whistles while she works - very refreshing. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. 

We inquired about breakfast for the next morning and the owner had to check how we had made our reservation before quoting the price. When she realised that we had booked through an agency she said the breakfast would be 7 euros, which we understand is 2 euros higher than for those who had booked their room directly. Not a big deal, but it did rub us the wrong way that we should be penalised for using a booking agency, so we went to Le Meson restaurant (Just off the Camino on the way out of town) where we had a great breakfast for 5 euros. It looked to us like very few guests at La Cachava ate breakfast there. Maybe a message in that.

Whether you're making the Camino de Santiago, or if you're just passing by, I recommend it to all of you, but on my next trip this will be the place to rest.

Magnifico is great.

We stayed only one night with our three children, they put in a cupcake at no extra cost.Close family treatment and convenience.The spacious room and bathroom as well, a kettle of water and a cup of tea.And the most important thing for us is clean, very clean, the breakfast is very good, homemade biscuits, apple pie, tortilla....recommendable 100%, we will return without a doubt.

We went to baptize my daughter in the village, and I took a five-bedroom room that was divided into two rooms inside a room, the bathroom somewhat small but clean enough. Everything is very clean. As you go you have to go up quite a bit to the rooms although they have a back entrance to facilitate access with suitcases, baby carts, etc. The unbeatable staff, it seemed that we were at home, left me with a forgotten hair dryer.

Nice room with own bathroom. Tea making facilities, no milk or coffee. Friendly staff, did my washing for no extra charge. Good meal at night. Very homely, old interesting building. Outside space for drying washing or having a beer.

Lovely house

We are on our way to Santiago and once upon a time we chose the convenience and practicality of a double room with bathroom, the usual room, very very comfortable, polite and available to the needs of us pilgrims at an honest price.

Peace and serenity at a cheap price

I was going to say this was probably the worst place I have ever eaten in but in fact it was without doubt THE WORST. I generally do not review places I don't like but in the interests of other travellers and peregrinos I feel I must. 

My partner and I went to eat here this evening. I ordered the pilgrim menu and my partner ordered off the a la carte menu. We received a bottle of watered down wine which we returned. No apology. It's the wine of the menu we were told!  

My starter of tomato and spaghetti turned out to be baby food and inedible. My partners starter of toasted goats cheese was so hard it couldn't be cut with a knife. My partner sent it back.  Even the manager agreed it was unacceptable. 

Then my partner's second course arrived. Fried eggs, bacon so old it was like rubber and cold cold fries swimming in oil. 

We just left.

My ardent advice is do not eat here from a culinary and, even more, from a health perspective.
