The owner smokes inside the bar, the bad food and everything is very expensive. The worst places in Madrid. Dry, greasy, poorly cooked food, overnight stay... It's not worth wasting a minute there.

We went to have two cokehouses and we were hallucinating with what it cost us... 6€ for two cokehouses... of course... that he put us some potatoes in a bag (courtesy of the house) but I think in the end for the price of the cokehouses we charged them... it was the first and last time we came back!

It's horrible!

My stay was very pleasant, the apartment very comfortable and well decorated, very clean and neat, the views and the location unbeatable in the center but in a very quiet area, a wonderful experience waking up in front of the churches of los Jerónimos, highly recommended.

Luxury at a great price.

We went by chance after visiting the Museo del Prado, we saw that they had a menu for the day (it was a Sunday that most restaurants normally do not have) and we were encouraged to sit on their terrace).

Menus at a good price.

A great option for a family or 2 couples. The apartment is very clean with everything necessary. The location couldn't be better. The staff that hosts you is very friendly and punctual. Ideal for a stay of several days as it has a living room and kitchen.

This is an excellent option.

The church is next to the Prado Museum, with super easy access. When we left the museum we went to visit it. It's beautiful architecture. There was a mass at the time, we could only see a part of it, but it was worth it. Very beautiful and well cared for. There is a view of a part of the park.

What a beautiful church.

My husband and I have now stayed at Los Jeronimos twice (for a week two years ago and for two weeks, last year); we're about to return for another two weeks.  It's not a hotel (you can only check in on week days during certain hours and sometimes have to wait to be let in); very few people who work there speak English (but everyone has been happy to let us practice our Spanish); the apartments we've stayed in have been commodious and very clean and comfortable -- with great terraces/balconies.  It's easy to walk to grocery stores, to the Prado, to the Retiro, and to interesting nearby neighborhoods -- plus we've found several great neighborhood restaurants as well.  Yet it's quiet and friendly.  The little downstairs cafe even came to have our morning coffees ready without us ordering (and after a while our evening glasses of wine, too!).  The one time we needed help (I managed to lock all our money and documents in the safe without setting the password -- entirely my fault --) someone came over to help us open the safe.  in fact we shouldn't have bothered with the safe: the neighborhood and building are not in the least threatening.  Indeed, we  found ourselves happily imagining that we lived in Madrid.  We do prefer to explore places on our own, so the lack of hotel-like features not only doesn't bother us, it feels right to us -- and this might not be what everyone wants.  For us, though, it's perfect -- and we hope to continue staying here when we are able to visit Madrid.

Not a hotel, but the perfect apartment rental.

This place isn't for everybody but it has some pluses depending on what you are looking for in a place to stay.  First, it is not a hotel. It is an apartment/condo building with some units in a rental pool. As such, only limited staff and services are available. Second, the rental units are modestly but adequately furnished. However, if you can get past needing a real hotel, this is a good alternative for a stay in Madrid.  

The location is very good.  The building is about a block or so from the Prado. There are some good restaurants and shopping nearby.  A major train station is within a short walk and the station contains many car rental agencies if you want either for day trips to other locations  The units are fairly spacious and clean.  Thinking back on this experience, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

An interesting alternative

We booked Apartmentos Jeronimos in Madrid for 2 nights stay on June 6 & 7, 2013. The booking was made a few months in advance online & we were promised “hotel amenities” as stated on their website.
 
On our arrival, we were greeted by an empty reception desk. After enquiring at the adjoining Jeronimos Cafe & other places, we had to just wait for 20 minutes before a porter directed us to a 3rd floor apartment (no 3-1) where he told us someone would be waiting. We were a family of 4 with 2 children. With no assistance from anyone, we made our way to the apartment where we were met by a housekeeping lady who spoke only Spanish & did not speak or understand word of English. The apartment was ok but we could just not understand what all the lady was trying to explain to us!
 
While trying to fill forms (again in Spanish !) we tried to ask basic questions like where we could get basic necessities like water, where the eating places were, how to get around the town etc. But with no luck at all. The wi-fi network (promised as a part of the deal) was non-functional. With gestures we were informed that it may only work if we held our devices outside the balcony ! Or go to the 6th Floor to use another alternate network.
 
Finally, the lady called a colleague who turned out to be the person who had corresponded with us. Thankfully he spoke English. We explained to him that we had not got any of the “hotel amenities” promised on the website & that lack of an English speaking person was a huge problem. He compounded the issue by stating that even this housecleaning person though would be available but only stay at the hotel latest till 8PM, after which we were on our own. So much for assistance ! When we requested him to come over & help us out, he refused saying that his job was at the office & not at the Apartment. We then gave up & told him that we wanted to leave & could not stay at such a place with 2 kids. He then stumped us by saying he would charge us 1 night stay, despite the fact that there was NO CANCELLATION POLICY stated either in our e-mail correspondence or on their website. After some debate, he finally agreed to tell his boss not to charge us & we left within 20 minutes of entering the apartment. We got good rooms at the NH Paseo De Prado & the hotel was extremely helpful & that made our Madrid stay quite comfortable & enjoyable.
 
But there lay a twist. To our surprise & horror, our credit card (details of which we had given while booking) was charged for 1 night stay AFTERT we were back in India ! This despite the clear assurance that this would Not be done. Since then repeated e-mails & calls to them have gone unanswered, leaving us with no choice but to ask our bank to start a disputed transaction procedure.
 
So to all potential visitors to Apartmentos Jeronimos, BEWARE ! If you do not speak Spanish, PLEASE AVOID THE PLACE/BE VERY CAREFUL. Their action of charging us despite their assurances on the phone worries us even more than the fact that the stated “hotel amenities” are not there, as it raises basic issue of trust.

BEWARE. Not to be TRUSTED !

If you are only in Madrid for several nights and need a great location for a fair price, this is it!! Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms, 2 blocks to the Prado. Great neighborhood but no nightlife and few places nearby to eat. But easy walking distance to everything. Would recommend apartment to anyone.
