Very nice stay at the Chalet de l'Atelier. Aurelie's welcome was pure, I love being received with such a beautiful smile. Thank you for sending us beautiful energies as soon as we arrived.:) The Jacuzzi Suite is 100% as described on the website. It was in line with our expectations, it's even nicer than in the photos. What a nice surprise! Full lunch.

Life is beautiful at Chalet de l'Atelier

To celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary, we spent three days in Portes du soleil. The chalet de l'Atelier is a jewel and is very cordially run by Sophie. One wishes for almost worse weather to spend more time in the home room. The extensive breakfast with delicious jam and much more is also recommended.

A small feeling of well-being

The rooms are very nice, well decorated, comfortable, the hotel is very well situated, there is a parking lot available, breakfast is delicious and the staff is very nice, the price is very nice, we will come back.

Great room, very cozy, you feel even more in the mountains thanks to the decoration made with great taste, no one very welcoming and very good advice, breakfast and very well served, everything you need to stay out of hunger.

It's a perfect place to stay.

It's a very friendly reception, a sensational good breakfast served to you. A lot of local produce from small producers. The room was relatively small but very stylishly furnished. The only thing in the bathroom that bothered me was the lack of shower curtains and the lack of storage space for shampoo.

Top address for staying in Champéry

We were very well received, the rooms were decorated with great taste, beautiful views of the mountains, very clean. We recommend breakfast on the delicious and cozy terrace.

Cozy rooms

Stayed here for one night over Christmas 2016. Some reviews said this hotel wasn't easy to find, but if you know the house number and have a good map, that won't be an issue - it is a 5 minute walk uphill from the station, directly on the main street, Rue du Village, in the same building where Le Nord restaurant is. Indeed there is no clear sign (Christine, who runs the place, later told us this is being worked on), however we opened the right door on first attempt. Check-in was easy, albeit the lady who greeted us certainly wanted to communicate in French. We stayed in the smallest of their 4 rooms, but it was of adequate size for us. Appreciated the wooden interior, design features, the bed and linen are all superb. It was cold outside, but the room was very warm. Breakfast is served from 8:30am and is plentiful - there is no buffet, it is all brought to your table. Christine is a charming and memorable lady, she set the tone for the entire day.

Very cozy and clean hotel

The bear room is really very cute a decoration in the details of a small cottage. Christelle is very nice is arranging she served us breakfast in the room it was very good. The negative point: the double bed are made of single bed glued together not top!!!! The positive point: very cocooning room I look forward to going back to try the restaurant which is closed for work.

Lovely room.

We (young couple) spent 2 nights at L'Atelier Gourmand in the suite (neiges étoilées). The suite is very tastefully furnished in the style of the Chalet Chic and has a large free-standing hot tub. We felt very comfortable doing the same with the nice staff who received us and looked after us. The only negative points for our taste would be to mention the soft bed and the noise of the kitchen you hear in the evening. However, it didn't bother us very much because we were tired of mountain bikes. The hotel is very well located in the middle of the village and has a stylish bar, a prominent restaurant and a gourmet restaurant.

Little jewelry

This is a difficult one. At the right time of year, in the middle of the ski season or the height of summer, this could well be a pleasant place to stay but in May, it cost a lot but offered little. It presents itself as a smart hotel with a bar and restaurants but in reality it is just a small ski lodge with a chalet girl who is not on the premises. We were not given any directions and, despite having the full address, could not find “Le Chalet de l’Atelier” (the name on our booking form) on arrival. Even the woman serving in a nearby shop had never heard of it. We did eventually find a sign on a nearby bar or restaurant with a similar name (L’Atelier Gourmand) but everywhere was closed and locked. With hearts sinking, we phoned the “hotel” and were told by the chalet girl that we were in the right place. She met us there about ten minutes later. We were shown to a comfortable room but all other facilities – the bar, the lounge, and two restaurants – were closed and locked, so we only had access to the room and the staircase. The room was attractive but much was superficial. For example, the bedhead could be illuminated but the bedside lights were so enclosed in fancy shades that it was almost impossible to read in bed. The wash basin lit up when water was running but there was no way of filling the bowl with water. The toilet and shower lacked privacy as there is a half-boarded glass screen separating it from the bedroom. The “extra-large super-king size double bed” was two single beds (with separate duvets) pushed together. To be fair, the room also had many plus points: a view of the mountains, free WiFi, TV with various UK domestic channels, hair drier, safety deposit box etc. With no restaurant open in the hotel, we then discovered that many of the others in the village were closed for their annual holiday between the ski and summer seasons. Christine, our (French) hostess, was charming and helpful, and spoke good English. She also provided a lovely breakfast (at extra cost). However, although Champéry is an attractive village in a lovely area, I recommend that you find a proper hotel that is fully open if visiting in May.
