The earlier review from 2020 unfortunately is still relevant for this venue. The home itself is lovely as is the garden and the resident cat. The shared bathroom smells of sewage and is always wet. The light sockets are a safety hazard and the owners are not friendly.  The mattresses are still hard. I would look at other establishments rather than this one.

Nothing has changed!

Don’t even bother, this place is not a ‘villa’ or a ‘guesthouse’. It’s located down a dark alleyway in Bangkok, and as two young, female travellers, we felt very on edge. After ringing a bell and waiting at the gate for 10 minutes, we were let in by the elderly owner. She didn’t say hello, didn’t ask how we were, the only thing she asked us was for the name on the booking and our passports, which she spent 20minutes writing down all the details of.
She showed us to our room, which was dimly lit and dirty. There was a fan, but it was vintage, meaning it was extremely loud and not that effective. The electric sockets are loose, and the plugs kept falling out of them. 
There was no bin in our room, or in the shared bathrooms, (considering you’re not meant to flush the paper down the toilet in Thailand, this was weird). The shared bathrooms were filthy, dusty and full of cobwebs, and they also smelt of pure sewage. 
The bed was so hard it felt like there was no mattress. We weren’t provided with any covers, so we had to use our own sarongs. Since leaving,both me and my friend are covered in hundreds of bed bug bites. 
When we left in the morning, we still didn’t get a word out of the owner. She didn’t ask us how our night was, where we were going, if everything was alright, nothing. 
This place needs a serious clean, renovation and a price check. 480Baht! I regret paying up front because i certainly would have argued the price. 
Don’t do it, you can find much nicer places for the same price if not less. 

Disgusting

We had booked via booking.com for three nights, with a score of seven it was a good quality price ratio but we have room visits, super hard mattresses and benchclothes, no window, curtains are sheets laid on tringles, the very old manager speaks an incomprehensible English, the place is super dusty, run away! However there is a very nice class and the place is quiet, we are young is usually demanding in our travels but it was never seen! Unfortunately we didn't think about taking pictures! we just wanted to leave!

Running away

I'm going to start with the minus: it's dark all over the house, everywhere. It's vibrancy in the house. It's unpleasant, but it's tolerable. There's huge holes in the room in the wall. It's a feeling that the vibrancy comes in at night and settles on your chest while you're sleeping.

We couldn't find anything else at 1:00 a.m. from an unexpected result. 3 hours of sleep on a semi-vegetable cardboard mattress, back completely blocked the next day.

We're gonna be out at 1: 00 a.m. but...

Villa GH is conveniently located and hidden in Soi Samsen 1 and is a romantic wooden house in ancient Thai tradition. However, this is all positive. Otherwise, there are fatty beetles, zero service, defective toilets and dangerous funnel light. Almost everything has flaws and at the third or fourth the fun stops. Angela + Willien urgently leave.

Romantic but smelly

If you want to experience traditional Thai living go to this place. Slightly away from khaosan road but very much within the reach (easily walkable). This is a nice wooden thai bungalow that has been converted into a guesthouse. 

One problem is that it gets really dark around here and mosquitoes are aplenty so carry Odomos or something. 

Authentic Thai place

I understand that you can love, but as long as you are young and you love adventure, and as far as we are concerned, it is a pity that the hospitality and kindness of the guests is unparalleled, and comfort is reduced to its simplest expression.

A different world

Positive points: location, quiet, pleasant indoor courtyard, simple room for the price of a dorm bed, bedroom and toilet (common) spartiate but functional (ventilator, locks), wifi (though a little whimsical.) Negative points: not welcoming the most friendly... No breakfast on site, and especially the dirt of the room! Thick layer of dust, spider webs and dead insects... With the grounded fan it's a spectacle!!

Good compromise for low-budget solo travelers

After looking for a quick place to rest near Kao San Road we found this guesthouse on booking.com. When we arrived at the main entrance at 10 pm an old lady opened the door. She stared at us, giving the impression she had never seen Westerners before. We tried to explain her in ABC English that we booked a room and would appreciate if we could enter. After she looked deep inside our souls we could enter what we would later call...the villa terror house.

They actually should call it villa house and remove guest from their name. The building resembles a house where you go back in time and the two owners have no clue of how to treat their guests. 

The lady started by taking our passports and writing down everything she could about us, letting me doubting if we were going to cross a border. The first good English sge spoke was to inform us to not book with booking.com next time in order to not pay commission. "Okeee miss".

We were brought to the room. Jurassic Room. The tiny little room looked like the cabin of a pirate during the 1600s. The matrass was 5cm thick and made out of grass. Yes...grass. Almost no light. No bed sheets. Before leaving the owner asked us not to walk on half of the room surface because....we could drop down right in their kitchen. Welcome to the Hunger Games! Then she was very surprised we liked to have towels, so a little bit annoyed she went to take two downstairs. When she left it was already 1 am and no chance of leaving. We turned down the light and on both sides loud sounds of cat fights made this a real experience. 

In the morning there was no chance to close the three windows surrounding us. We where awaken by sunlight and all fifferent alarms around 7 am. Then we planned our escape and got out.

I read more reviews and it is remarkable that people write positively about this place because of :"the nice old lady". If you like to review the owner do that on her Facebook page. But this place needs a huge make up. Big time. If I want to go to a horror house I do that at a fair, not during my sleep....
