The rooms are uncomfortable and the cleanliness is desirable (in the bed we found some hair) and in general the room is not very clean. There is a lot of noise and especially people in the next rooms talking.

I wouldn't go back.

Very happy with the location, especially if you're coming only for a couple of days. The staff was nice and the check-in/check-out super fast and professional.

The room was a decent size. Unfortunately, there is no wardrobe or hangers. And I missed a little fridge. 

Other than that I had a good stay.

Ok, so,  pretty it isn't but it is a good budget hotel that delivers comfort, convenience and location 

The large interior quadrangle styled bedrooms area, with rooms on the first, second and third floor is reminiscent of a Miami tenement block to be polite or a prison layout if you are being impolite. However, don't be put off by that description, the rooms are a decent size, have a good shower (usual walk-in shower & toilet style common in Thailand), good aircon and we tried the tv for the first time in three weeks and found BBC News channel! 

There is a hairdryer, shower gel/shampoo/conditioner dispenser, kettle with coffee and biscuits. Note - no refrigerator.

Within the hotel, there are communal seating areas, cold drinks machine (incl. Beer), an off licence for liquor if you can't be bothered to go to a 7/11, a laundry area - 20bahts a long wash and 10bahts a drier spell, scooters for hire and bicycles for hire. As I said - convenience.

The staff are very helpful and can arrange any trips etc at the same prices as the "tourist information" shops.

It is only 5-10 minutes walk from some temples, the night market and plenty of bars and restaurants. Note - most bars don't seem to start opening here until 4 or 5pm. The clocktower is literally a 2minute walk to the street corner and has a colour changing lighting "show" at 7, 8 & 9pm each night.

Being frank, what this hotel doesn't win on prettiness, it delivers in value for money and convenience.

Good value & perfectly functional

This is a serious bad place.
#1 Chiang Rai hotel on Tripadvisor is an extremely bad and scary promotion. I booked based on reading that, and left after 10 minutes, found elsewhere and checked out 1 hour later.
Scary residents. Smelly (urine) A/C. Ugly rooms. Dirty.
Not worthy of accommodating budget packpackers.
Tripadvisor should get a local agent to visit and review honestly. Do not be misled.
It is similar to a prison block.
Very scary and not recommended.
Be honest, this is to help all who wish to step inside here.

Not #1 hotel Chiang Rai.

A great location in the city center, nearby the bus station as well. Very clean, with a hot shower. The bed was firm, as is the norm in Thailand. I’m happy with the level of service, as I would consider this a budget hotel. Overall a good choice.

Central Location

We stayed here for two nights. We were with our two children, but the room only had two pillows and two towels. We asked for two more and they didn't give us them. The room was also not very clean. The location was good. But overall, we didn't like it and we wouldn't go back.

This basic hotel is well situated in the heart of town. The rooms are large, and the beds were reasonably comfortable.  The rooms are somewhat spartan and basic, but for the price in town, offer good value for money.

Chiang Rai Hotel

Been here for one night enroute phu chi fa. It is not centrally located for amenities but it does doing fine for shelter and basic accomodation. Laundry is also provided but self-service with the charge for 20 baht. Bike parking is inside the hotel but you have to bring the bike revving through the lobby! What an experience.

simple yet practical spot

Good hotel in Chiang Rai, it's located right next to Clock Tower. The rooms are not very big but correct, but there is no safe. There is no breakfast in the hotel, you can find it in front.

Good hotel in Chiang Rai

The room was clean, huge comfy bed, small shower, hair drier and shower cap available. The air con was working just fine. It’s 6 minutes away from bus station where you can take the bus from line 8 that goes to White Temple. There’s a Saturday night market right around the corner. You can find street food, clothes, local jewelers and lots more! Walking distance from everyday night market, and there’s a great bubble tea nearby ;)
