This was the most perfect hotel for our trip to Istanbul (two friends) and would highly recommend it. Our room was fantastic, great size and amenities. The staff are a huge credit to the hotel, Hakan was the friendliest and charismatic waiter for breakfast who couldn’t do enough and Berk and the rest of the concierge team were beyond helpful when suggesting places to visit and recommending and booking restaurants for us! The breakfasts were absolutely amazing too.
Thank you, we will be back!

Fantastic hotel in a great location

A very stylish and discreet hotel in the heart of the Galata area.  Just off the busiest streets so very quiet at night.  Easy walk down to the Bosphorus and from there across the bridge to the main classical sites.  Very friendly staff including Hakan at breakfast and the numerous reception staff we met at different times of day.  We also used Plazatur a highly reputable travel agency for all transfers and tour guide.  Their service was impeccable.

We felt it was the perfect place to have some atmosphere while still being discreet / boutique . High quality rooms.

The service was great, especially thanks to Yusuf at reception, who was very attentive and positive in resolving everything. Also thanks to Hakan, who was at the restaurant and always made everyone confortable and was very cheerful. The hotel is very nice and feels brand new.

Great service

I thought I had visited the best hotels in Istanbul until I came to Ecolle. This is truly the best hotel in the city. The staff greeted me as if they were the most loved person. They upgraded my room category. A perfect tiramisu was waiting for me in the room (I live in Italy and even there I have not eaten such a tiramisu). The hotel is new, incredibly clean. Fantastic terrace overlooking the tower. A wonderful “Italian courtyard” restaurant with very tasty dishes. I am so glad that I found my home in Istanbul, from now on I will only stay here. Perfect reception, all the staff are very kind and always with little care. Gifts await you in the rooms in the evening. Special mention of Hakan at the restaurant il Cortile.

What a wonderful experience, Stambouliet.

The hotel is well located in the Galata district with lots to see up the hill. The rooms are small and not cheap. The staff are very nice and helpful. Rakan served an excellent breakfast. Only thing keeping this from a five star rating is the price but the location is the draw.

Istanbul visit

For the most part, the hotel looks just like the photos. It’s relatively new and in great condition.  It’s fun to see beautiful, modern design anywhere, but especially in Turkey, amidst so much old-world, opulent beauty.  Our room had a balcony looking right at the Galata tower and, on an afternoon with a breeze, we felt like we’d hit the absolute jackpot. 

Strangely, one of the things we’ll remember is the outrageous prices in the minibar and restaurant.  If the goal of hospitality is to make the customer feel taken care of, and at home, the prices at Ecole did the opposite. It felt like they were set to gouge their customers, and it was hard not to feel like a sucker, like we were the butt of a joke by hotel management (or whomever set them). 25 Euro for a airline sized bottle of Gordon’s gin. 5 Euro for a bottle of water (which was sold for 20 TL across the street from the hotel - what kind of place charges that much for water when it’s 90 degrees outside? Again, hard not to feel like a sucker.). 45 Euro for 45g of Toblerone.  Toblerone is in fact delicious, so I understand a premium, but it was 2 for 10.50 Euro *at the airport*. 

Hakan, our server at breakfast, was fantastic.  He was funny, charming, and helpful!

Beautiful hotel,but outrageous prices

This hotel was beautiful, the staff was wonderful, the location perfect, and the food was just delicious! Highly recommend! I would come back again many times over! Anna in reception was phenomenal and so was the wait staff at the restaurants!

an amazing experience

The newly constructed hotel is beautiful, with every detail considered. Let's start with the unique elements:
1. Beds, linens, and pillows are first class in every regard.
2. The bathroom in our room was small but featured terrific lighting and a great modern shower with excellent temperature control.
3. The small bedroom and sitting area are beautifully decorated and well-lit.
4. The staff could not be more accommodating. They are working hard to improve the experience continuously.
5. For travelers that want immediate access to bars, young people from every country, and a raucous party scene, they will be in heaven.
6. It is easy to get to many historic sites from the hotel using public transportation.
7. We had a great pizza and fantastic cocktails at the adjacent i guru restaurant and bar.

Areas to improve:
1. Forget getting a taxi to take you to the hotel in the evening; the streets around the hotel are overflowing with traffic and merrymakers. If you are lucky enough to find a taxi willing to take you close to the hotel, they will try to charge you 3-4X the normal fee to brave the traffic. The good news is that the hotel is investing in a golf cart to take you to taxis or public .transportation.
2. The storage areas in the small room available for us and the bathroom are small, and the closet is tiny.


A Diamond in the Rough - Great service, friendly with fantastic beds and linens.

Tucked away on a quiet street just below Galata Tower. Super friendly staff, from front desk to restaurant, especially Hakan. Room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. Thoughtfully renovated with lots of character and style. Easy 30-min walk to Sultanahmet. Highly recommend.
