Initially I wasn't impressed.  Even the owner admits it's not a fancy establishment. It is a bit tired looking. 

However, what you do get is a clean bed, a good breakfast and excellent customer service that will do it's best to cater for what you need.

This is a hotel to use as a base and go out for the day.

Budget friendly lodgings

Old coach Inn with lots of character. Very friendly staff who made us and our wee dog welcome from the minute we arrived. Room was very clean with lovely hot water for a bath. The breakfast was well presented and delicious, so was the coffee. Due to restrictions on the listed building the windows are only single glazed which meant there was  road noise until midnight, then all was quiet for a good night sleep. We would return to this lovely old hotel for the warm welcome and the breakfast 😊

This is not  for me. 

The " Hotel " is a very.   Very poor standard  , 
On arrival you are met with sn a dour that lingers through out 

The room is 70s decor with a precarious heater . 
The grey carpet in the orange bathroom leaves a lot to be desired . 

We paid extra for breakfast but as we left at 7.30 no one was around even for coffe . 

The pictures may have been taken a long time ago .

Lovely long weekend stay.
Heather and her sister were extremely welcoming, nothing was too much.
Martin is exactly the right person to serve you breakfast, pleasant and cheery.
Thank you all.

Family visit 

We stayed at this hotel last night...with our little yorkie sized dog...we checked in went to the room left our bags..went out to the shops came back few drinks, had dinner outwith. Came back and thats when i opened the glazy plastic shower doors and was i shocked...DISGUSTING.. The fixed shower head was filthy beyond words..and a makeshift tile stuck on with a piece of cellotape exposing a wire behind it..i went to reception and spoke to..i assume the manageress.!. She said oh thats mortifying..aye you bet it is i said...she then said you can check out, but there is no availability in the full town tonight..i double checked that and no there wasnt!. So we didnt have a choice but to stay..in the morning we decided to ask for a full refund, not have breakfast as we thought thats cheeky...we got met with same lady to be told No we werent getting a refund and we had complained since we arrived??????....i think we had every right to complain about the state of that shower area. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for dirt and filth...the hotel itself is very rundown tired in dire need of decorating but thats not the issue...cleanliness is a major issue regarding our complaint..to be honest we will be pursuing this as the customer service was appalling this morning.

The hotel does not look like it does in the photos 
Light in bathroom did not work 
Broken pane in window 
No plug in sink water took ages to drain out 
Didn’t use the bath or shower 
Bed uncomfortable only had one sheet then mattress which didn’t look very clean
Outside door at the back left unlocked all night 
No one on site 
Tables at breakfast very sticky 
Fire alarm went off and we had to phone someone to come back in to turn it off 
On the plus side the breakfast was very good and staff very friendly

Very unpleasant 90% of the time would not go back

Lovely hotel right in the centre of town, spotlessly clean, brilliant breakfasts, OK they're refurbishing the rooms one by oneso it's pot luck, but all good, free parking at rear, wonderful friendly staff and great craic in the small bar, wonderfully friendly place to stay. 

Really good value

A warm welcome in a family run hotel with lovely people in a very handy setting for the small town and access to bike tracks and countryside.

There’s ample parking in a private area and lots of little shops and amenities in the same streeet.  The hotel was lovely and warm and everyone we met here was friendly and helpful.

Warm friendly stay

An inexpensive and very welcoming hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. No problem storing bikes safely. The room was spotlessly clean and the wifi worked flawlessly. A good place to stay when visiting the area.

The pictures  of this hotel  look great sadly the reality  is terrible, yes its an old Scottish  hotel but its very very rundown our room was filthy carpet from toilet to room was disgusting  stained all over , I think this hotel hasn't been decorated  since the 50s all I can say is you have been warned .
