Poor management. Unhelpful, conning people out of money. Grubby dated and filthy. Getting friends to fill in against bad reviews. Completely ruined my birthday by messing me around. Only good thing is location

I found this hotel to be excellent value for money.
Close to Princes St - 20min walk, but in a lovely, leafy part of the city. Tesco close by.
Free parking

Good size room for a family.
I'd use it again.

Budget City Break

I saw a room at the hotel was available for Friday to Monday on booking.com. I initially booked from Saturday to Monday. Realising my mistake I rang reception to ask to extend my stay to include Friday night. The person I spoke to informed me the room was no longer available on Friday and that the best option was for me to cancel and book elsewhere. I specifically questioned this advice because of the £50 cancellation fee but was assured that there would not be one because I was giving more than 24 hours' notice.

I cancelled the booking with a request to waive the fee, as promised. They refused to acknowledge the previous conversation and refused to honour their promise of waiving the fee. I believe this is very poor customer service.

I would not recommend dealing with this hotel.

Poor customer service and conflicting advice

I had a brill experience staying at the claremont hotel. Service was exectional and rooms were clean, slightly dated but all together no issues. Staff are very friendly and welcoming nothing was ever a bother. Meals were mediocre very basic but sufficient. All in all would highly reccmommend for a quick visit to the beautfil city

p7 school trip

Lovely hotel in a stunning location in Edinburgh. The hotel rooms were very clean and spacious. We were also given breakfast bags every morning which had a load of different snacks and juice which we thought was lovely and very appreciated! You will also be helped by staff who will mark important visitor locations on a map to help you get around. Recommend staying here :)

Short city break

The host was absolutely amazing and welcoming. We stayed in the quadruple room and there’s nothing to complain about as was clean and tidy with a spacious bathroom. They are kind enough to provide free breakfast too! Would totally stay there again for our next visit :)

Perfect place for a short visit!

Just got back from a fantastic stay in a fantastic city. The Claremont Hotel was our base for the stay, great hotel, very warm and welcoming, the rooms were perfect for us to re-charge our batteries and head off to explore this wonderful historic city.

Although we were here for my sons stag weekend booked through chilli sauce this hotel really is the pits, My room was dated,dirty and smelled damp, breakfast was a paper bag with a child’s drink banana and a small wrap/pancake, the shower went from scolding hot to freezing cold, the bar was closed  but I think this could have been a blessing as that area stank.
The owner was nice enough but clearly there had been no investment in the business for a very long time.
Even though we were there for a stag do I would expect something much much better for my money in the 21st century.

Stag weekend

Ok if you just want a bed. Largest room I’ve ever seen in a hotel and the bathroom was the size of a small cupboard lol. We went as a family so 2 adults 3 kids. The kids were happy enough but the room was very dusty and very dated. The car park is 4 flights of stairs away from the main lobby and if the manager isn’t available to open the back door it’s a 15 minute walk around to the back of the hotel if you need to get into your car. Fine if you’re only looking for somewhere to sleep and nothing else. Would have been a lot better if there was a small kitchenette or even a fridge in the room.

Just a bed

We came here for my hen weekend and I must say how fantastic Alan was, he was always helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. The whole group had a fantastic stay! The breakfast was amazing and the rooms very very spacious! Thank you so much, will deff be returning. This place deserves a 5 star
