The food on Mother’s Day was the worst thing I’ve ever tasted in my life!!bits were cold,bits were mild and other bits piping so must be reheated microwave food,customer service was rubbish as well never took the drink order for ages,waited ages on the drinks and then when food was delivered 1 of the party of 6 had been forgotten and had to wait another 5 minutes for it to come!

To top it off all mothers get free champagne and we had 2 in our party and weren’t offered nothing

I will never return here ever again

DISGRACEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!  DONT BOOK FUNCTIONS HERE!!!!
I booked and paid deposit in January for my son’s 18th birthday. Was clearly advised in the hotel when paying that the balance was due a couple of months before the party at the end of June (so end of April) … was given receipt of payment with no paperwork telling me otherwise not even an email (despite requesting this) ! 
Received a phone call from someone in admin at the hotel today out of the blue who was being beyond rude to me from the off,  demanding to know when I would be paying my  balance that was due last month all of a sudden. Asking why it was late like some sort of debt collector . 
I tried to explain that this was news to me and I needed to talk to my partner and we would get back to her later today to pay the balance as I was quite shocked it was suddenly due but she continued to be super aggressive demanding payment! In the end I decided to cancel the party as I just felt her attitude was so shocking, especially when the issue was that the hotel had not explained about this due date to me on the first place. Still cannot believe why this person thought this was an ok way to treat a paying customer. 
I was already unsure of this place to begin with as have heard horror stories about other people’s bookings. So sad really that a hotel like this gets away with treating their local community like this! We used to take our kids there for football presentations for years. Wont ever be back now and will tell everyone I know to avoid!

So on Wednesday 17th January I called this venue to pay for my buffet for my son & daughters 18th & 21st birthday party that was due to be held on Friday 16th February to be told I had no booking to which I replied to that I do have a booking and I have plenty of proof . So after a discussion they then tell me that they can see that and a mistake  has been made and it hasn't been transferred to the new book and they have now  double booked .

My booking was made in October 2022 and this new booking that is a football presentation was made only a few weeks ago apparently by the owner .

I was then told they were going to try to sort it and call me back but I ended up going down with my friend thinking surely it will be ok as they can move the presentation as i have been booked for such a long time .

When the manager and another girl came to speak to me straight away it was I am so sorry but we will need to refund you and I was like are kidding me on this is a joke as I have all proof here .

I had emails showing I had been in contact last year to pay things the only thing still to be paid was the buffet which you do 4 weeks prior to the party hence why we found out i had no party .

The manager then proceeded to tell me I had breached my contract as full balance hadn't been paid which is a load of nonsense as again I had proof as a certain person had emailed me which I was told there is no way you will have an email from that person but again I had proof and could show this .

She also tried to tell me they had called me hundreds of times which definitely did not happen as they had the wrong number for me not just one digit it was a few. But they could have got me on email but got a stupid excuse to why they don't email which I don't understand as yous replied to mine whenever I sent one and I had all the proof .

At this point I would say the manager's attitude changed because she could see I had this proof now am not saying she was cheeky cause she wasn't but I felt as if they would have done anything to fob me off but couldn't.

They then offered me the other hotel out in kings park which I refused as it's too far away so why can't the football team go there and the reply was because they are kids total nonsense by this time am in tears as there is nothing I can do .

My friend then said to them so you are telling us because the owner booked this a few weeks ago it has overruled our party which was booked in 2022 and we were basically told yes there was nothing they could do but they would try to speak to him again to see if he would change his mind .

Now I had all my invites done ,selfie mirror led lights ,decor everything you need for a party booked and at this point I have no party and I am offered a refund or wait till next day to see if they could do anything but I decided to try get somewhere else and was lucky enough to have found another venue or I would have been hundreds of pounds out of pocket .

I am so glad I had called to do the buffet because when I previously called I was told to submit it by email and then just call up and pay over the phone which would have then meant I would have turned up to our party with another function going on and god knows what would have happened then .

SO IF YOU HAVE A PARTY BOOKED WITH THIS PLACE PLEASE CONTACT THEM AND MAKE SURE YOUR BOOKING IS OK NOT SURE IF THAT MATTERS AS I HAD CHECKED TIME AND TIME AGAIN WITH MINE AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED .

THEY DECIDED TO PUT THE BLAME ON A GIRL THAT NO LONGER WORKS THERE WHICH MEANS NOTHING TO ME BECAUSE THIS BUSINESS IS AT FAULT THEY ACCEPTED IT WAS THERE ERROR BUT STILL FAILED TO FIX IT NOW THAT IS BAD MANAGEMENT.

NOW THIS IS FOR THE OWNER THINK YOU REALLY NEED HAVE A LONG HARD LOOK AT HOW YOU RUN YOUR BUSINESS AS ITS A SHAMBLES BECAUSE TO DO WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO ME IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND I REALLY HOPE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE THAT HAS A PARTY BOOKED WITH YOUS.

SO IF YOU ARE BOOKED HERE PLEASE CHECK OR IF YOU ARE THINKING OF BOOKING MAYBE RECONSIDER AS YOU MIGHT END UP THE SAME AS ME .

AVOID FOR PRIVATE FUNCTIONS

The food was cold apart from the meat that was like a door stopper and could not cut it the starter was all rocket and other vegs  and a small portion of prawns the sweetheart was a tiny portion as well don't we will be back there as its not worth the money we paid plus the pints were nearly flat

This was the worst food we have ever been served in a restaurant!
Blade of beef , which it wasn’t , was not even able to be cut with a steak knife and was like leather , was sent back and we were told it was a bad cut off beef , no refund , my partner ate some boiled potatoes and the frozen veg out a packet , everythingsoaked in a disgustingly gravy .
My balmoral chicken wasn’t fresh made and was obviously microwaved from the friend and wasn’t edible , dried out and disgusting.

The food wouldn’t have been served in an old man’s pub for £3 never mind a restaurant.
Avoid this place at all costs it was absolutely disgusting.
The place was absolutely freezing cold also… wouldn’t set foot in the place again and urge you not to waste your money .

Had my son's 18th in back hall on Friday night. Nice venue. Absolutely lovely bar and door staff (Max, Lesley and Mo.) Very good and  accommodating dj (Raymond.) Thanks all :).
However bar prices are a bit  on the expensive side and bar manager (I believe her name was Pauline) had a seriously stinking attitude! I totally appreciate that in a job like that a bit of authority is required but the way she spoke to ppl (children in particular) and her staff, was just downright rude and uncalled for! I personally wouldn't hire hall again for this reason.

Excellent service nice atmosphere food was excellent. First trip will definitely be back. 

I had the panini excellent hubbie had the braising steak with haggis which was excellent too

If your in the area definitely give them a visit you won’t be disappointed

So good great service and food was great except my dessert.Starters were so good, followed by even better mains. Sadly desserts were for me a wee let down, daughter got choc fudge cake which was lovely but my apple crumble was burnt 

Enjoyed food 

Booked for 2 nights only stayed the one as it was so bad. On arriving you have to book in at the bar of the pub which is not ideal as they were more interested in serving the locals their pints. Room was basic, no hot water in the bathroom, hot tap did not even work, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, dirty tissue behind the door in the bathroom, very noisy from the main road outside and the bar below, beds were terrible, no breakfast other than a bowl of cornflakes, no tea or coffee or toast available. Overall very bad experience to be honest and definitely will not be going back. The only good thing about it was the Balmoral chicken in the restaurant.
