Pretty good typical British food

Loved this place. Lived around the corner from it for about 25 years. BUT now this place has gone and is being taken over by....Yes by someone/people who have no connection or roots with this area. Typical. It used to be a great place to meet up with friends.

The end of an era...

It's definitely in a great location: the stalls at Portobello Market, the subway nearby, Notting Hill... staff is available, rooms are clean, the only drawback is the really small bathroom, but for short stays it fits... so you don't go to London every day.

I'm having fun.

On the first day of my vacation in London I visited Portobello road, at the end of the shopping I had lunch in this place. It was almost obligatory to choose because all the places around 13:00 were crowded with tourists. Dear friends I don't know if I happened on a particularly bad day or if this place is really a mess. The menu was risky, despite the presence of very few adventurers made us wait very tightly, the quality not even to talk about.

It's definitely a characteristic, a good location, an excessively small room, an all-in-one bathroom, but it looks like an English characteristic, like retro furniture.

It was a nice surprise, it didn't look like much from the outside, but inside it's very warm and welcoming, the furniture is old but suggestive and the staff is very kind and friendly.

The Portobello Gold is NOT a grand hotel. If you choose to come to Portobello Gold, you do so with the idea of immersing yourself in the atmosphere of Notting Hill, one of London's most characteristic neighborhoods, in the wonderful Portobello Road and its typical market. The size of this hotel is very *friendly*, very simple, without much pretence. The rooms are really small, but this is a characteristic of this B&B, not a defect. If you travel as a couple, this room becomes a very intimate place. The bed is very comfortable! The staff is extremely kind and available. If you love music, this is the right place: the quality of the Sunday night often concerts blues. The walls of the structure are organized by discreet tapestries depicting the large rooms, but this is certainly a characteristic of the hotel.
