We booked a room at the Queen's Inn for a little staycation, as we were dining in a nearby restaurant for my birthday. We've stayed in most hotels in Guernsey, including 5* and based on the room alone, I think this has been my favourite. Our room wasn't large but it was just right really. It had what I'd called "proper" furniture and a a bed just like my own at home...not a divan in sight. I felt really relaxed and comfortable and it felt like a bedroom rather than a hotel room. It was clean and cosy, with lots of lighting options, well placed mirrors and sockets and an iron and ironing board (a rare thing these days). It was a bit hot but a decent fan was provided. The room was tucked up at the top of the building some heard nothing from the busy pub below. Brilliant. We did miss breakfast though as we just couldn't bear to leave our comfy bed!!

A great room at a great price! 

Just have to say, I stayed for 10 nights in the Queens, the rooms were immaculate and roomy the staff were so friendly and the breakfast could be continental or as much as you can eat. I eat in there a couple of evenings and again no complaints with the food presented.

Very clean and spacious rooms

Large dining pub.  If you want unsophisticated  pub grub at reasonable prices then this could be the place for you.  Service was quick and pleasant too.  Fish and chips was quite good if a little undercooked in the middle.  Not much more can be said.

Nice stay but would not stay in Room 8 again because of being over the bar area with lots of swearing and smoke, although the music was turned down for us!
Catered for my food intolerances well.
Very clean and staff very busy.
The place would benefit by a more modern experimental chef as food is very basic and expensive for what is considered as pub food, but then the place is always very busy so obviously works......
Expect lots of hickledy pickledy stairs especially if you are on the top floor, so not really for people with walking problems or the elderly and no lift...
No proper left luggage area but just told to leave in the entrance part where anyone could steal.
Lovely large well equipped rooms but would benefit by key cards as the locks are very noisy and very old.

Enjoyable stay and would go back but would choose a different room

How to describe the Queens,  a little gem!
The property is clean, tidy and homely. From the staff in the bar Jack and Elvis (yes his real name)to  Marianne the lady cleaner all very friendly and helpful. Jonathon and his wife are very much hands on and can be found serving breakfast and then behind the bar at night. Food was really good and plentiful, but I would recommend booking in advance especially for lunch which always seemed to be busy. There was some noise on Friday and Saturday night but this is a pub, it was never excessive  or continued late into the night.
Getting round the island has a few problems as there is a shortage of taxis especially at night but the bus stops outside the church opposite that goes into town. A bargain fee of £1.25p for the trip which means you can go anywhere you like on the island  for the same price.
Overall we really enjoyed are stay here and will be back

A little Gem

My partner and I came to the Queens for lunch. My food was fine, but my partner ordered the steak Guiness  pie which he was looking forward to, but really didn’t like. It was incredibly watery, lacking flavour and only had the top which was pastry. 

When the manager came to take our plates, he naturally enquired was it ok. My partner simply said that it didn’t taste very nice, it was watery, not really a pie and asking for it it be removed from the bill. 

You would have thought that we had said the whole pub was a disaster. The manager was aggressive and rude - he snatched the plate, saying that he didn’t think that anything was wrong with it and nobody else has complained. I pointed out that his manner was rather out of order and it doesn’t matter about other complaints. He argued with me and stomped off! 

We didn’t have to pay for it, but the manager’s manner put a stale taste in our mouths. It’s a real shame as a customer should be able to point out faults without being victimised for it. I can safely say, they have lost our business.

Unfortunate lunch

Not very good food. One staff member just kept on coughing- not what you want to hear when in a pub having lunch when covid is going around. They didn’t know much about their food and allergies, so I was just told I couldn’t eat it as they didn’t know. Would not go back I’m afraid!

Disappointed

We ate here on three occasions whilst staying at the Fermain Valley Hotel. The food was typical pub fayre but was always served hot and in generous portions. The staff provide excellent service and are very friendly.

Excellent food and service

went for a meal there, large portions and freshly prepared, friendly staff and a great atmosphere, good value, just off, 50yards of bus route from the capital or a three quarter of an hour walk. will definately eat here again

great staff

Not particularly suited for those wanting a peaceful dining experience as there was quite a lot of noise from the other bar.  The food was average but felt expensive for what you get.  The waiting staff were friendly though.  Overall, cheap but not good value.
