We stayed here with our 2 children age 9 and 6.  The room was spacious but could possibly do will a little updating, but that did not spoil our stay.  The staff are fabulous! Nothing was too much trouble and everything was down with a smile.  Breakfast was lovely and relaxed.  The restaurants food was great and the atmosphere in the bar was super.  We are moving to Guernsey in the new year and look forward to visiting Les Douvres once again.

Lovely Hotel with Great Bar/Restaurant 

What a wonderful hotel! Quirky, peaceful,clean,comfy beds and above all, brilliant staff. The manager, Michael is just amazing. Nothing is too much trouble. It is a very busy hotel, particularly in the evenings, but hey, the food is good so to be expected! Service is quick, but does that matter if you're out for an evening? Fascinating people watching! The gardens and pool area are lovely and the pool is warm too! Can't praise this place too highly and would certainly stay again, thank you Michael and team xx

Fantastic stay!

Very friendly hotel in a So British style! Located about thirty minutes by bus from Guernsey city centre/port. A bus line passes near the establishment (every 30 minutes or so). Splendid landscapes and beautiful walks are accessible about fifteen minutes from the hotel. The staff is nice, even with our very limited English we managed to get out.

Lovely 6 day  stay at the hotel. Beds were comfortable and rooms were nicely sized. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the great choice at breakfasts. The swimming pool was warm. Its very convenient placed for walks and the bus. 

Great place to stay

We went for a evening Meal at the douvres. Overall i was very disapointed we were waiting for our prder to be taken for longer than 45 minuites. We asked repeatedly for our order to be taken and we were told someone wpuld be over shortly multiple times. Each time we had a glimmer of hope they wpuld attend a table that had adrived a considerable time after we were seated. I wpuld not attend if ypu actually want to have your odder taken in less than an hour. Terrible service 😑 

Awful Service 

Spent a enjoyable time in the restaurant, lovely food, atmosphere was lovely.

Food was yummy, loads of choices, had a yummy steak, for main, crab cake to start, all fresh, tasty.

No rush, even thou it was busy, will be going back later in the year .

Date night

My wife and I are both aged 74 arrived at Les Douvres at aound 7.30 pm for an 8 night half board stay. We were told by the manager "We do not do half board and this holiday is not paid for."  Showing our confirmation invoice stating half board and receipt of payment, he said I will honour it only up to £25 in the restaurant. On our behalf CI Travel contacted the hotel and confirmed with us by email we do not have to pay any extra. Each night we were pursued from the restaurant for payment which we refused.  Five nights into our stay we asked the manager to confirm there would be no extra payment, he again said everything over £25 is to be paid.  We said "No" we have a copy of an email from CITravel to you confirming this and your acknowledgement to abide by the half board booking. No apology was given and at this stage would have been meaningless.
The menu offered fish, pizzas, and spicy dishes all served with salad, and not much else to choose from.
We certainly do not recommend this hotel and will not be staying there again.

Upsetting experience

The hotel looked lovely online and on first impressions matched what we were expecting. Staff were pleasant, pool is small but nice with good space surrounding it, room was comfortable enough but very small...to the extent that just the two us felt we were falling over one another trying to get ready to go out! The water in the shower and bathroom in general was ridiculously hot and almost unusable even on the lowest setting (which we had to ask for help on how to turn it down). The man who came to look at it struggled to turn the knob and part of it came off in his hands in his efforts so it wasn't just us being daft! 

The main downside from this stay was the complete lack of sound insulation between the rooms. Appreciate we were very unlucky to have a baby in the neighbouring room on all 3 nights of our stay (two different families), but with the crying/parental chatting at 6am it sounded like they were literally in the room with us. One thing I would say however, if you are not a part of the wedding or party/event being held at the hotel, do NOT stay here. We were lucky we were out most of the time at another wedding but the noise from outside and the room they hold the events in when we were there was unbearable. When the staff were clearing up the following morning(s) it sounded like the ceiling of our room was about to cave in. I am sure under different circumstances it could have been a much better stay, but if you are looking for somewhere quiet or relaxing then I would not recommend gambling on whether or not anything else might be going on during your stay. I have a sneaky suspicion the staff know this is an issue because I recall the very pleasant lady in reception when we checked in saying there was a party going on that evening but the music should stop by 11pm...this was completely unprompted and we didn't really think about it at the time as we were heading out for the evening anyway. The music had stopped when we got back around 11.30pm...unfortunately, the people who had been at the party didn't stop until around 1am.

Don't stay here if you are looking for something peaceful and relaxing

Lovely large room even if lacked a bit of character given the age of the building , fortunately the terrific bar had plenty of that.          Staff bit of a mixed bag, for example check in poor with no advice about anything, check out excellent however.  Beautiful gardens, lovely when the weather is nice. Nice part of the island with a half hourly bus to St. Peters Port where there are plenty of great pubs (probably too good, late night). Enjoyable stress free break.

Pleasant break

Les Douvres has nice bedrooms, it is very clean, all of the staff are friendly, polite and lots are very cheerful. It is in a lovely area and a good location to stay for a visit to beautiful Guernsey. The measure of a good hotel or service is how they deal with any issue that may crop up. We had a problem, they dealt with it politely, swiftly and in a fair way. I would be very confident to come back and stay again and I would highly recommend Les Douvres as somewhere to stay on Guernsey.
