Excellent location rooms we're superb and very clean staff were really friendly and very helpful parking is avaliable at this property at a small cost breakfast was lovely definitely be booking here again fab 

Excellent b and b great value

We really enjoyed our one night stay at this pub hotel. We’ve found that the nicest hotels in York are the ones that are also pubs. 
The room was spacious with a large bathroom. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The breakfast was lovely we had full Yorkshire breakfasts and there was plenty of toast, cereal and tea, coffee and juice. The staff were all absolutely lovely and very welcoming. I’d definitely recommend staying here if you’re visiting York, whether it’s for one night or much longer you will definitely be comfortable.

Comfortable and cosy stay

arrived here with my Daughter and wasn't sure on parking . The staff was really helpful and guided me to the car park. 
we was taken to our room which was nice and cosy.  there was ample tea and coffee facilities and also hot chocolate. 
The following day we came down and had breakfast.   there was lots to chose from. cereals, fruit, yoghurt etc.  we had a full English, which was lovely .  the ladies who worked there made sure everything was OK and asked us if we wanted any more tea or coffee.
I had left my car in the car park and the staff member said she would move her car so I could park mine while we went shopping.   I thought that was lovely gesture.   so we came back to collect the car at 2pm.
I think it was the staff went out their way to make us feel very welcome .
lovely pub and staff.   I will definitely come back here.  I think it's a lovely place and very cheap for 2 of us including a fantastic breakfast. 
I've recommended it to my friend's and family already !

what a pleasant place 

We had one night here, looking forward to a pub stay. What a disappointment.  I had no major problems with the room and did receive a ‘small’ refund from booking.com but the one word I would use with this stay was dishonesty. Both with the booking and the pub specials. Would not stay again or recommend. 

Disappointed 

Gorgeous little Inn close to the city walls. The hostess Lorna and her lovely mum Heather made us feel very welcome - and made our stay feel like we were in a home away from home. 
We were in the rear room (room 1) - spacious room with generous ensuite and excellent pressure shower head. Staying in summer we had a fan to keep cool, and were happy to leave the window open (1st floor so no risk) to catch the evening breeze. 
Very short walk to Micklegate Bar to enter the Medieval City for exploring, close to plenty of places to eat at all price ranges. Of course the Inn is  a pub, great range of local ales and gins to whet your whistle, they even had hand poured beers which for us Aussies was a real novelty. 
This is a lovely place to stay when in York. Highly recommend.

Perfect Inn to rest your head

Just back from a nice and relaxing stay at the Bay Horse. We arrived hours before check in as we wanted to make the most of our time in York, and met the lovely Heather and Lorna who run the place. The ladies couldn't be more helpful and said our room was ready, it was fine to check in early, park up, put our stuff in the room and go off and explore. This was super appreciated. 

We had a refreshing night's sleep in the room. Next morning I rang the contact number to ask where they wanted me to leave the keys, the gent who answered also was fine with me leaving my car in the car park a good few hours past check out - so we could make the most of our last morning / afternoon in York without getting stung by the rip-off NCP car park charges. 

It's service like this that makes for repeat custom - and we will definitely be back. I can't and won't slate a small family business for cancelling the "Breakfast" part of the B&B rate in these crazy times with the cost of everything going up so much - certainly not when there is a wetherspoons five minutes away where you can get a full fry up for a measly 6 quid. The little touches like the early check in and extended use of the car park offered by the team as a courtesy, more than makes up for this. Thank you guys and hope to see you again soon :) 

Lovely Place

We only had the opportunity to stay one night in York to break up our drive back from Northumberland to Liverpool for the ferry to Dublin. This place ticked all the boxes as it had safe car parking to the rear, was a short walk from Mickelgate and was very reasonably priced. We were about 2 hours early for check-in but the pub was open and we were warmly greeted by mother and daughter who own and run the place. They kindly allowed us to leave our car there, gave us our room keys and we were able to head off for a few hours before returning at check-in time to our room. The room was large, as was the bathroom, and nicely decorated, clean with good towels and toiletries.  We had a drink in the bar when we came back before going upstairs and it was busy and a nice atmosphere - there was a pub quiz on so that was good fun. Breakfast the next morning was very good, plenty of it, and again very friendly. Check out was at 10 but again they kindly allowed us to leave our car there for another hour so we could do a final walk around before heading towards home.  We'd definitely stay here again. I'm only dropping one star for the noisy plumbing - probably an airlock! So flushing the loo in the middle of the night was sure to wake everyone up - a very small detail though.

One night stay in York

My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping down Blossom Street on a cold and rainy Thursday night when we decided to drop into The Bay Horse Pub ,a great pub we always enjoy visiting.
Housed in a very evocative 17th century building,the pub interior is superb,lots of dark wood features,an eye catching serving bar,pubby decor and furnishings ,tv's and big screens to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this multi roomed pub,it's a great pub to unwind in.
We ordered Amstel Brewery lager ,these were served in excellent condition,we kicked back and took in the great pub we were in.
My beer was great ,a crisp,sparkling Dutch beer ,hoppy,refreshing ,it's a beer style I enjoy and a beer brand I'm very familiar with as I've been to Holland on many occasions.
We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to The Bay Horse Pub we had a great time.
The Bay Horse Pub is easy to locate along Blossom Street.

Great pub 

The Bay Horse on Blossom Street in York is a traditional pub thats housed in a superb 17th century building that offers a fantastic food and drinks menu and also well priced accommodation. 
Located on Blossom street were there are some fantastic pubs/bars and restaurants the Bay Horse has a well kept interior with many interesting feature's and throughout the whole interior fantastic seating options and friendly staff.
We had just visited the Crystal Palace pub on Holgate road and while walking toward the Micklegate area of York we decided to go in here for a quick beer.When we where here this pub wasn't that busy so we could sit anywhere in this pub.When here we had a few glasses of Amstel brewery Lagers an excellent Dutch lager which were perfectly served and well priced.
This is a traditional pub and is well worth a visit and very easy to locate from Blossom street bus stop its a minute walk.(This is my first review of the Bay Horse).

Superb Pub On Blossom Street. 

Used to drink in here in the 80's and 90's.Was a lovely pub, nice atmosphere, great staff and management. I know times change but not nice now. Staff too loud. Served then staff went back to all I can describe as flirting with male customers! Males and females in the group all said the toilets weren't clean and there appeared to be 'stuff' about... And we don't think it was vim cleaning powder remnants! Too much swearing. Won't be going back. Will just remember my times in there when it was a pub we all loved!!
