Areg Hotel 

If you are looking for the 5 star city central hotel then this is probably not for you. No plastic rooms here, no bowing doormen. However if you are looking for true five star treatment in spotlessly clean rooms in a small hotel owned and operated by a wonderful Armenian family then the Areg will tick all the boxes. All the rooms are large, some very large, all have air con, all are en suite. Outside there is a shady pleasant garden area where breakfast is served. Breakfast is another aspect that is not the typical city hotel buffet, it is more local fare but will not disappoint. The Areg is in truth a few minutes out of town but either the local bus, the metro or a taxi (inexpensive at 500 dram) will quickly whisk you into the city centre in minutes. It is located in a quiet and safe area of town and well served by local shops that are mere metres up the road. pop into anyone, buy a couple of beers or a bottle of wine and sit in the garden and listen to the songs of the resident bird population. In keeping with all you will find on the premises the staff are a total delight. The desk is manned 24 hours a day, there appears that nothing is beyond them when you are seeking either advice or assistance. Just to wrap up all that is offered local and not so local tours in the hotels own vehicles with English speaking guides is available at the most competitive rates. Let me stress I am a frequent visitor to Armenia and confess that the Areg has for many years been for me a jewel and should be tried by any person wishing to sample real Armenian hospitality and care.
