This Motel would have to be the Best Motel I have stayed by far, I have travelled all over Australia ( Been to Every State  in Australia including Tasmania )  the Service is A 1 especially Shazza with her Personality and Humor, Very Family Friendly Nothing too Flash Wat You Get is Wat You Pay For, Great Australian Motel !!

I stayed for 2 nights this week, it was convenient as I was travelling to the snow for a day from sydney and needed somewhere close to mount stromlo mountain bike park for a quick ride on my way home (I left the bikes in the room rather than at the snow). Sharon left a key out for me as we arrived at 11pm, the room and bathroom was clean. For about $80 per night, I was not expecting 5 star but we had TV, fridge and Microwave and clean comfortable beds. The location was quiet, the shower was hot and the water lasted without any problems, it's a place to stay the night, I would not recommended hanging around during the day, it is not a destination but rather a cheap, clean, comfortable place to put the head down for the night.

clean and comfortable

Booked this place online through lastminute.com in June and received confirmation and booking reference. Wa sonly intending to stay one night so only wanted something basic and clean. However, when I arrived they told me they'd lost the booking and were now fully booked. They did however offer to put me up in a room being used by tradesmen to store their paints and tools etc. I didn't stay.

Lost the booking

This motel is not central to Canberra at all when we checked in after about a 15 minute drive from the city we were disappointed as to the location and the quality of the room can not say anymore but was really not impressed 

Rubbish 

The only positives were clean sheets & towels, which are I admit, very important. Arriving  late afternoon, when a manager?/owner? finally arrived at reception, she was unable to find our booking. Her manner was brusque & abrupt to the point of rudeness. (And her fingernails were long & dirty! Decided not to eat at this place!!) Fortunately I was able to produce a print out of the booking (through an agency) but she still denied ever receiving this. Upon asking if there were in fact 2 rooms available for our party of 2 couples, there was a less than enthusiastic response. To push her point home, she then insisted again that she had not received our booking as the only 2 bookings for that night were in the names of X & Z, one of which was my husband's first names! When I exclaimed that that was us & said the last name, she still initially insisted again, until suddenly there was an 'Oh' and a pause as she checked the computer screen. No apology! So onto the rooms. I wish I had left and not paid prior to seeing the rooms! The floors were clean but there was no basin in the bathrooms so you had to wash hands after toileting, in the 'sink' at the kitchenette, where the sink was in fact a dirty handbasin. The European blanket was a double size on a QS bed, very thin & the cover was dirty. Freezing Canberra night & no electric blanket so had to leave the heater on - guess we should be grateful there was a heater! The curtains had as dirty splash of something across them & were falling down at the end. Behind them the wall vent had fallen off the crumbling wall. One of the chairs had a large hole in the cloth-covered seat, but the very worst thing was that there was no hot water at night!! Upon speaking to the male owner/manager we were told that 'the guys down the end must have used it all. They complained earlier. Wait 1/2 hour then it should be ok.' It wasn't!! My husband & I and our son (one of the other couple) all got up early the next morning to ensure we got hot showers, but our son's partner went to have a shower at 8am & there was no hot water. (The place wasn't full.) When we left, at 9.30am, reception was closed. We have travelled extensively in Aus & O/S, & have been visiting Canberra several times a year for 3 decades as we have family living here. Never have we stayed in such a dreadful place. At $95/night it wasn't expensive, but this was just beyond the pale!! You have been warned!!
