I came as a solo traveller and had a brilliant time! The hotel is not in the centre, but to me, this adds to it's charm, as it is in an older part of borovets and tends to be quieter. I found it a 10-15 minute walk into the centre, but there is a regular free hotel bus every 20 minutes that drops you off outside the hotel samakov - they also have a rack on the back of the bus for skis/ snowboards. I never had a problem getting on the bus because of overcrowding. The room was very nice with a bath/ overhead shower, but no kettle so if you like a cup of tea ( which I don't) you might want to bring your own. There is the usual minibar etc. The rooms were very warm. What I particularly liked was the lounge area, which felt quite cosy to me, and a nice place to sit and read a book. It gave off a smaller hotel vibe really, which was lovely as I soon got to make new friends. I enjoyed the food, there was also free beer and wine as part of the evening meal. I stored my skis at the hotel Rila ski depot so I didn't have to schlepp them around after skiing - this cost 22 levs per week. I didn't try the pool/ spa facilities, but heard good things about them from other people. Overall, I would definitely come back!

From Tsarigradsko Shose Blvd. via Gorublyane – Pancharevo, to Samokov.

From Samokov to Borovets there is a first-class 12-kilometer road.
