Authentic seafood, mostly fish, and classic Bulgarian food. Dishes are tasty. 
The atmosphere is welcoming, while the staff is friendly and concerned with your wellbeing. The restaurant fits in the Varvara “nature” perfectly well.
Had a nice, quiet evening, and will visit again for sure.
Price range: Relatively cheap, while the plates are satisfyingly full.


I visited the restaurant "Varnata", during my summer vacation in Varvara. The place is nice and cozy. The food is delicious and the stuff very polite.
As a vegetarian, I found interesting dishes in the menu. The prices are quite normal.

I spent several days with friends in another hotel at Varvara but we often visited the restaurant. I have no idea whether the hotel is good but the restaurant is very good and I recommend it. The restaurant is appropriate for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I enjoyed a cup of herbal tea, home made banitza and green fig jam for breakfast. There is a special menu for lunch every day. For dinner you can try traditional Bulgarian dishes or sea food.

First of all, if you have chosen Varvara for your destination you must be knowing what you're doing. I mean, this village is off the beaten path and despite being renowned as a favorite summer spot of many Bulgarian actors, intellectuals and otherwise cool local boheme, this is hardly the Black Sea location many non-Bulgarians would choose.
Getting there is by car or bus only, the beach is minuscule, not so many hotels, shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. Even more so in winter.
Varnata Family Hotel was practically among the few open places to stay in Varvara in March. It offers some nice, cozy air-conditioned rooms, with some rather basic amenities and a bit of a sketchy wi-fi connection, but it was OK with me. It is clean and has reasonable prices. 
The restaurant of the hotel (more of a tavern, really) offer surprisingly big selection of food and wine and, at least during my stay, was an excellent place to eat. Service was good, and the staff were very helpful. The hotel is also near some shops - 5 min or less walk. 
So, as an end-line: it is basic but nice. Just like the rest of Varvara village.

Haven't stayed in the hotel, but the restaurant is the best you can find in Varvara. It is a summer garden with a bar and plenty of tables. Food is very good, with some bulgarian specialties and sea fish.
