Lovely Inn overlooking the harbour where the ferry lands on Grand Manan. We stayed in the very spacious Wildflower Room with a king-sized bed and wonderful views of the sea.  Breakfasts were ample and varied. The dining room was unfortunately closed for dinner, but we were provided with several recommendations for restaurants on the island.

The Place to Stay on Grand Manan

We stayed in the Wildflower room and ate breakfasts and dinners here. Everything was great. The view is great, the room is large, clean, and comfortable. The meals were the best we’ve had so far on this visit to NB and NS. The hosts were so friendly and pleasant. Highly recommended!

Just a postscript, the portions at meals seemed generous to me and the prices were quite reasonable, I thought.

A wonderful inn and restaurant!

Lovely Inn. Large and comfortable room.  Spectacular setting. Delicious dinner and breakfasts.  Very helpful and friendly hosts.  We were told by all the locals we met this is the best hotel on the island!  Highly recommend Compass Rose and Grand Manan. 

Amazing grand manan!

This place - and indeed the whole island of Grand Manan - is truly a hidden gem. We were there in something that should be the peak season, yet we could enjoy the serene beauty of this remote island in peace, everywhere. We stayed in the Ebenezer Suite (the hotel consists of two buildings) and it was really spacious with a lovely porch overlooking the garden and the ocean. We had a fully equipped kitchen (more advanced than at home, almost) and a sitting area, beside the bedroom with an extremely comfortable bed. 
Breakfast is served in the main building - it's home-cooked and made with love and care, just like the dinner we tried one of our nights there. The friendly hosts always had time to chat to all us guests and they really made us feel like home. Locationwise, the hotel is more or less right next to the ferry terminal, you cannot miss it. 


Homely, quaint, magical.

We stayed in the Garden Room for 3 nights with our own private entrance and lower level patio and view of the harbour and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was like our own cottage. The restaurant upstairs served great dinners and their hospitality and the view was first rate. And tasty breakfasts were included. 2 minutes drive maximum when exiting the ferry.

Stay Here - You’ll be glad you did.

We stayed in the Wildflower Room for the week that we were in Grand Manan visiting with our family there. Linda and Kevin were wonderful hosts accommodating all our needs. Breakfast each morning was wonderful and we dined twice with our family and all enjoyed our meals. The view of the harbour was great, watching the fishing boats coming and going. We will most definitely stay at Compass Rose when we visit in the future and recommend to all.

Family Visit

Way more than we expected. Some sites rated this gem of an inn as 3 stars. Definitely better! 4 stars for sure. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Spectacular views. Excellent beach combing/ beach class opportunities. Breakfast was super. They accommodated my daughter’s dietary needs. Do recommend bringing earplugs as the foghorn can be annoying (only happened to us one night).

Way above our expectations!

We loved this Inn and Grand Manan Island.  The hosts were very helpful and made us feel very welcome.  The restaurant also had great food.  We had two breakfasts and two dinners and enjoyed both.  I recommend this Inn to anyone visiting Grand Manan.

Amazing Inn and Service

We were fortunate to get a last minute room at the Compass Rose due to a cancellation - unfortunately it was only for 1 night.  The room was nice size, very clean,  and very quaint.  We didn't have dinner there, but the morning breakfast of blueberry pancakes, bacon, juice, coffee was awesome!  Kevin was a helpful host, as we were having to catch the 9:30 ferry back NB.   The property is convenienly located right next to the ferry dock so made the morning much easier.  We loved the island and the property and hope to return soon!

Visited the Compass
Rose Inn the 1st week in July.. inn is very close to  the ferry.  Linda was there to greet us with a smile
And escorted us to our room “the garden Room” Impeccably clean with a microwave and a fridge as well as a balcony to view the bay.
Breakfast was included and I have to say Linda was very considerate with my diet and provided me with almond milk!!
They also serve the best dinner in the island !!! 
I cannot say enough high praise for this wonderful inn.
