All you can say is WOW. Staying here is worth every penny. The rooms are amazing, well appointed and spotless. Almost unexpectedly so based on the exterior. We stayed there on the last night of the season, they literally were shutting down for the winter the next day but every single part of our experience was flawless. The food was delicious and the service too notch. Waking up to the lake was a dream come true. Highly recommend you give it a go. I recommend you go early, check in, your room won’t be ready but they let you do a pre-check in. That way you can park there and go explore the lake.

Most iconic experience of the entire trip

The Lodge was just fantastic!  Everything about it, from the room to the food was 5 star.  We stayed in a king room with a balcony overlooking the lake.  The view was mind blowing.  We canoed twice while there just to see every inch of this crystal clear beautiful lake and it's surroundings.  The tourists that came to the lake each day were quiet and respectful, we hardly knew they were there. 
 We felt like we were in a movie and at one point wondered if we had died and gone to heaven.  We agonized over the cost of staying here and only stayed 2 nights but we certainly got our money's worth.  The place was immaculate, service was top notch and food was wonderful.  We left with memories and pictures we will treasure forever.

A TOP OF THE WORLD EXPERIENCE!!

Expensive, yes., but worth it. Beautiful food and exceptional staff. The eco talk given one evening was informative and entertaining. The guided hike was personalised and informative. We had the whole lake and rock pile lookout to ourselves  after the tourists went home in the afternoon/evening. That wad really special

Expensive but totally worth it

I stayed one night at the Moraine Lake Lodge in July.  I chose this place primarily for the easy access to the Rockpile for the iconic views of Moraine Lake.  I went up to the Rockpile at sunset, sunrise, and in the middle of the day.  And the views were spectacular each and every time!

Seeing the lake during the sunset golden hour was quite serene, as there were very few people (just lodge guests and a few hikers who hiked in from a nearby campsite) up at the Rockpile at that time.  That allowed me to find a couple of locations for the next day's sunrise.

Sunrise at the Rockpile was more crowded than I expected; prime viewing locations were already taken when I arrived about 30 minutes before sunrise.  But I was still able to get my photos for the magical sunrise that day (July 10).

As for the lodge accommodations and food, they were fine for me as a solo traveler.

Magical views at Moraine Lake

We stayed at Moraine Lake Lodge in a Deluxe King lakeside cabin.  We were in #14 just behind the canoes.  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay although I agree with others who stated there are far too many day visitors.  They have closed the road to private vehicles unless staying at the lodge. We found day visitors worse at The Chateau who sees 20,000 a day.  

We loved our cabin and the balcony.  After the last bus leaves at 7sih pm it becomes the most magical beautiful place as only guests are there.

We arrived in between lunch and tea and went to the cafe for a snack.  It was so crowded!  We were able to go to the gift shop early in the day when it opened and it wasn't too bad at that time.  

We found the food good, enjoyed breakfast, the light lunch and our dinners.  The Minestrone soup is wonderful.  Evening meals were fantastic!  My husband loved the Pickerel and enjoyed the special of the day.  I fell in love with the Braised beef gnocchi, and the wild mushroom pappardella. We enjoyed tea and cookies in the library and often sat on the balcony.  We found the staff friendly and professional.  

Hiking and the trails were so lovely. Canoeing was not available as the lake was far too low.  They were hoping for the glacier melt to fill the lake soon.

If we return to Banff, we will stay at Moraine Lake Lodge.

Moraine Lake Lodge visit

We stayed at the very end of the season. The staff were fantastic and really kind. The room itself we expected to be truly ‘rustic’ but felt really luxurious - the sunken seating area with a log fire was so lovely to come back to after being out in the cold!

We’d considered staying at Lake Louise but after a trip there we felt entirely justified to recommend anyone to stay here - Moraine Lake was quiet and felt much more intimate. We can’t recommend this hotel enough - the food was lovely (though breakfast was a little small, dinner was gorgeous and worth the money) and the privilege of being on the lake for all hours is well worth it.

There were some lovely touches which just made this a great stay, from the complimentary afternoon tea, to the presentation from Joel, a local nature and hiking expert who puts on a brilliant presentation 3 evenings a week at the lodge. We really hope we can return one day.

Beautiful hotel, a perfect stay

Absolutely unbeatable location, we stayed in cabin 15 which had a great view of the lake.  The cabins are comfortable (especially the bed) with a seating area beside a large window and log fire. There is also a small but perfectly placed balcony.  The bathroom has all you need,  The cabins have no telephones or tv’s but this adds to the charm. Also there is no mobile signal but panic not there is Wi-Fi,  The main lodge has a great restaurant plus a cafe & gift shop, The staff are all warm & friendly.  Not the cheapest option to visit the lake but certainly worth the money. Highly recommend.

Breathtaking

We had a beautiful stay here where we woke up each morning and wished we never had to leave. Its such a cozy lodge and the staff all provided great service. We got married at the top of the rock pile and were met with a great dinner afterwards. Breakfast was really nice too! Cant wait to return one day.

Great Wedding and Stay

The lodge, consisting on one main building and a number of separate cabins is located at one end of Lake Moraine.  It is a short walk to the water and the familiar iconic photos of the lake.  We had a room in the main building, and we could see the water from our balcony.  Our room was spacious and comfortable.  The bathroom was nice with a spacious shower and body sprays.  The only downside was that they kept the room pretty warm, but we just kept the windows open.

A buffet breakfast and light lunch of soup and sandwiches was included in our booking.

The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

The one downside was that the lodge is located next to the lake parking lot so it is pretty busy the entire day.  There were quite a few people visiting the lake, even at the end of September.

There are many hiking trails that start from the lodge, and we hiked in different directions each day.

In spite of the crowds, we still greatly enjoyed our four night stay there.

Beautiful setting, Great location for hiking

Stayed here for two nights with my husband in a room in the main building. 

Oh my what an absolutely beautiful place. The surroundings are incredibly breathtaking. Loved the fact the fires were lit in the reception and library area, made it feel supper cosy! Absolutely loved the warm cookies which were served in the afternoon with a lovely cup of tea. 

All the staff we came across were really friendly. Special mention to Kinga who served us both evenings were ate dinner in the restaurant, which was super delicious. 

If I had a slight niggle, there is no safe, which we found surprising and the walls are a little thin and being such I light sleeper I was woken a few times by our neighbours. I could hear them switch on their lights and flush their toilets. Also the doors to the rooms cannot be shut quietly. But apart from that an incredible stay.
