This is a wonderful place to stay We now have stay 2-3 times. The Cabin are nice and they have eveything you need when a way from Home. They have a Pool and a Kiddie Pool, Slides for the kids. Very Clean Cabins. 2 bedrooms, 2 showers and 2 TVs. A great place to stay. Good Lord willing we will be back

The BestPlace to stay

We found this place by accident. And we are so happy we did. 

Our backpacking trip in Tweedsmuir National Park got thwarted by a swarm of mosquitoes, so we turned it into car camping. Driving accross the plateau, we saw the lodge's big, beautiful sign advertising camping, and we pulled in. We were immediately greeted by the proprietor, who welcomed us, allowed us to look around and decide if we wanted to camp and promised us homemade dinner. We were sold. We had a quick dip in the lake, set up our tents then made our way to the lodge for a wonderful dinner and wine. The next morning she made us a "hearty" breakfast, talked to us about our travel plans and sent us on our way happy and full. 

She and her husband are amazing. You must check this place out!

German Paradise on the Chilcotin Plateau

We had the pleasure of staying here and I would do so again.  Main lodge is beautiful and our smaller cabin was excellent.  Beds were soft.  One improvement could be to get wifi to small cabin. 

Food was fantastic. We were treated to a wonderful lunch on arrival followed by the best schnitzel I have had. Breakfast the next day was a wonderful array of cold cuts and a traditional German hash. 

Hospitality was incredible and we were very well looked after. 

In terms of activities there is excellent fishing and canoeing and a nearby hike through a unique sandy pine forest is a must.

Fantastic Lodge

We had a fantastic experience from the first moment we drove onto the lodge & resort property with a warm welcome from Gisela and Bernward.  We were shown to our (upgraded, no extra charge) log Chalet, right on the shore of Clearwater Lake, complete with a full kitchen, two bedrooms (each with their own bathroom), an eating area and a large living room with a fireplace.  The resort is a few hundred meters from the highway which makes for access easy but it is far enough away you can't hear the traffic at all - in fact there is almost complete quiet, except for the loons calling from the lake, and you feel exactly like you are in the middle of the wilderness!  Gisela is a great chef - we were on the "full board plan" and loved each and every quality meal, beautifully presented and with plentiful portions. We so much enjoyed the "German-style" meals - better than any restaurant from one end  of Highway 20 to the other (especially for the fair price) - and the good selection of beers and wines.  At our special request, Gisela even cooked-up one of the Rainbow Trout we caught (the fishing was fairly good right from the dock)!  We also had a treat of bison stew and bison sausage and of course traditional German schnitzel (... so good!). The packed lunches Gisela prepared for our day outings were delicious too. Hearty home-made breakfasts were served each morning with bottomless cups of coffee and all kinds of good food from cold cereals to fruit cocktail & yogurt to eggs and sweet-cakes with all the trimmings.  The lodge & resort was clean and well-kept, the beds comfortable, the hospitality warm - yet all in one of the most remote parts of British Columbia.  Bernward made the arrangements for us to take a horseback trail ride from a neighbouring business which was safe & fun.  We had a truly relaxing three days, enjoyed the surrounding area (including a drive to Chilko Lake) and just didn't want it to end.  Now .... back to the real world!  Thank you, Gisela and Bernward for such an enjoyable stay - we'll be back!

A quality Chilcotin experience in the wilderness

We spent a night in the bunkhouse prior to heading out to BWCA. We stayed in bunk house 1, price was excellent and we had a private bath, but the foam mattresses were not too comfortable, next time we'll splurge for a room at the lodge. Breakfast was fantastic and we had some last minute changes to our plans that the employees were very helpful with. This BWCA entry point is very pretty too so we hope to return. The old historic lodge is really cool, enjoyed the ambiance.
