Annexe Hotel de La Gare

This Hotel is across the street from the Hotel De la Gare where all business is conducted. The hotel itself is a nice facility with a relatively large room and bathroom, all of which were meticulously clean, though somewhat sterile. The Wifi worked fine, and the TV had a limited station list. The major advantage of this property is its location a block away from the main train station, otherwise is a bit of a walk to the main part of the city and quite a stroll to the beach centered community. The owner of the property may be viewed as a sweet older lady, but i have to say she was totally unwilling to make any accommodations to me as a cyclist. I arrived shortly after noon, soaking wet and tired from a trying ride in awful weather. Although the room was unoccupied, it was made clear that i would not be given access until 3p, no matter what. I had to use the bar bathroom to change into dry cloths. And then there was the bike. Since this was the end of a 2 week trip, it had to be disassembled and packed into large but airline legal hard sided case which is just as clean as any other suitcase. The only practical place to do this was on an exposed patio in front of the Bar. I was accosted about taking away space from potential customers, all of whom seem to live at the Bar. In order to deal with that problem, i ordered a couple of ciders. Fortunately it did not rain during the process. Then, when i went to take this suitcase to my room, i was chased down at the front of the Palombe Bleue and told that under no circumstances could this suitcase be taken into the building. It HAD to go into the garage underneath, which complicated adding a few extra things to the bag. If you are traveling by car, this hotel is probably just fine, except for its location, but if you are on a bicycle, forget it. And don't bother with the breakfast. You can do much better in front of the train station.
