B&B HOTEL Romilly-sur-Seine

Yes, I booked the Akena hotel on price - never a wise move, but struck lucky. It's a very standard French commercial travellers' hotel - plain rooms, no frills but what you need for a quick overnight stop, On the Sunday night we stayed it seemed we were virtually the only guests. But the check in was smooth (but the fermé sign on the entrance doors was a bit disconcerting) and the room clean and comfortable. The receptionist advised us of a 15% discount on the steak restaurant down the road, which was helpful. Though the short walk there, past the drive-thru McDonalds was again rather bleak, being through a windswept treeless retail park on the old airfield. We had a restful and quiet night and the breakfast in the morning was good value. Standard French breads, preserves and cheeses on a buffet. No nasty surprises on the bill, so whilst not a four star hotel, the review gets four stars.
