Résidence Les Hauts de Marquay

A cluster of villas and bungalows surrounding a swimming pool and restaurant atop a hill in the beautiful Perigord countryside. We stayed in a 2-bed wooden cottage, somewhat resembling a large static caravan. The back porch looked out over stunning countryside. Mini kitchen was well supplied, beds were OK, one double and 2 singles. The heated swimming pool was new-looking, very clean and quite large and the ping-pong table was a plus. Restaurant was good and very reasonable, breakfast were continental style, I think 7 euros each on top of the room rate. Wi-fi was only at reception or in the bar. A car is essential due to rural location and long driveway to the road, but this is easily done by renting from Bergerac airport about an hour away. Great location for exploring the main attractions around Sarlat and Perigueux is about an hour away. We went off-season so was very quiet and relaxing, a few other families and couples there, most seemed French but helpfully the manager speaks good English. Room rate was very reasonable at this time of year.
