Camping La Pierre de L'Aigle

We stumbled across this campsite on pitch-up by accident whilst looking for a place to stay on our circular road trip from Wales, UK to the Côte d'Azur, FR. Having been let down by the weather on the coast we were in desperate need of a scenic camping spot with a decent outdoor swimming pool and 'oh boy' did this place tick all the boxes. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner, an incredibly relaxed and chilled out gentlemen - he spoke great english which was very beneficial for us! He explained to us that he too visited the campsite and fell in love with the place, so much so that he worked 3 jobs for 10 years to eventually realise his dream of purchasing the place. Once the introductions were over and we had checked in - we were given the thumbs up to explore the site pick our camping spot for the night. Luckily for us, with the high season still a week away we had the whole place to ourselves! Unlike most campsites in the low season, the swimming pool, restaurant and site facilities were all open. After setting up camp, we enjoyed a dip in the spacious and clean outdoor swimming pool - this was followed up by a tasty homemade pizza and a bottle of wine at the restaurant. If you are looking for a campsite in an elevated position within the French Alps, with stunning views and scenery, a great swimming pool and fantastic customer service... be sure to check this place out. At 45 euros all-in (camping for two people in motorhome, use of swimming pool, showers and washing up facilities, two homemade pizzas and a bottle of wine) you cannot go wrong. =]
