Ibis Budget Hamburg City 

We stayed in the Ibis Budget for 6 nights. It was perfectly adequate for a budget hotel. The room had 5 electrical sockets: 2 at the desk, one at the sink, one beside the WC door and one at the side of the bed (so pick your side of the bed wisely as there are no sockets on the other side!) Storage was a short rail with 4 hotel hangers and 2 small shelfs above. There was 2 hooks on the full length mirror too. We utilised the door handle and under the bed for more storage. There is only a pull down blackout curtain on the window, and its a bit awkward if you only want a little bit of light in the room (no net or draw curtains). The Air Con seamed to be set at a building level and a note saying you could only change it by 2 degrees up or down. It is noisy if the window is open, but silence when you close it. While the loo had its own room inside the room, the shower was inside the bedroom, so you would need to be comfortable with the person you are sharing with. The shower door opened inwards so you wouldn't want to be too husky to squeeze past the door to close it. The bed was comfortable but the pillow was extra small, half the width and half the height of a regular pillow. Being a budget hotel, there were no extras like a kettle, phone, safe, iron, fridge, room service, laundry, gym, butler, helipad. Absolutely no complaints with breakfast. The breakfast room has been recently renovated and there is now a long island with the buffet and more choice then you can see on the old layout photos where is was on a counter against a blue wall. (Photos of waffles are from the next door hotel) There is a left luggage room with deep lockers where you can leave your bags if your are too early for check in or leaving Hamburg later than check out, the lockers need a €2 coin (non-refundable) to remove the key, so bring coins if you plan on using them. Reception closed at 22:30 but you can use the reception of the hotel next door if needed. The hotel is close to the Main Station and Steinstraße UBhan is even closer at about 200m distance. The central area near the Town Hall is an easy walk as well as Elbphilharmonie area. I would have no problems staying in this hotel again.
