We stayed in this little residence for a couple of days.
It's a little gem, the view is stunning and the owner of the property Mirco is the nicest person we met during our tour in italy.

The Gabbiani residence is situated lovely, above the bay, which gives you a marvelous breakfast morning view over the bay area. The beach is right under the house, and you will walk there in 5 minutes. The sea is salty, crystal clear and wonderful!  On the way to the beach, you also have access to a couple of bars and a small foccaceria. The town centre, with restaurants, ice cream shops and bars is a 10-15 minuter walk from your home.
A stroll along the harbour, or in the old town streets is a must! If you are interested in viewing the castle or the church up close, go in the cool hours, since the stairs are steep and many! 
Our stay was made even better by our gracious and gentle host, Mirco, who made his outmost, to make us feel at home and welcome! We will be back!

The residence is located on a hill just a short walk from a great beach, a bit away from the port.  The main port is about a 15 minute walk.  A perfect location for swimming, as the water was not full of pollution.  The room had a beautiful balcony with lounge chairs and a table.  Although this town is not in one of the main cinque terre towns, I felt the town was more colorful and had more character than any of the cinque terre towns.  At the port you can easily buy a pass to board a boat and visit the cinque terre towns. The boat leaves just about every hour.  This is the PERFECT location for relaxing, sight seeing and relaxing. Just an FYI bring extra soap products.  Only a small bar of soap is provided. The wifi also was not consistent and worked better in corridor, but in the end, a vaca is about relaxing :)

Wonderful, updated and clean...remarkable views.  Large open verandas at front of property. Onsite parking.  Walk to town.  Great Management! Reasonable prices - great value! Kitchenettes and nice bathrooms.  Comfortable beds, furniture.

The value and view are what make this apartment hotel a good find. I’d give it 3.5/5 if I could. 4/5 just for the excellent value. Being 15 minute walk outside of the center of town is good to escape the crowds and the walk is really pleasant along the water in good weather. There is a great restaurant, a bar, a snack shop and one little market between the property and town if the weather is bad or you’re not in the mood to walk to town. 

The view of the harbor is lovely and the outside patio is huge for the lower units (pictured). It’s quiet at night but the town’s one lane road is just below the property so you do hear cars, trucks, and buses rumbling by all the time. Still probably quieter than being in town. 

The apartment was very clean but note that there is no cleaning service during the stay, even for a five night stay. 

We thought the bed was uncomfortable (very hard), couch also uncomfortable, and the shower is small with poor water pressure but you get what you pay for. We were excited to leave to our next hotel with a nicer bed and larger shower. Also, you need to bring your own bath products. Only one tiny soap bar and toilet paper was provided. The large refrigerator and kitchen were nice to have!

Portovenere is a fantastic and special town and I would stay in it again if returning to the area. My wife and I both thought it was much nicer than any of the Cinque Terre towns and we were happy we chose to stay in Portovenere instead of one of the five famous towns, all of which are impacted by too many tourists. Great for a day trip to see them but then returning to quiet beautiful Portovenere was wonderful. If I ever return I’d probably look for a different hotel to stay in but in an expensive region this apartment hotel’s price is tough to beat. The price is very right for the 2* level of quality and apartment conveniences. 


We stayed four nights and were pleased with the location.  Quick 10 minute walk into the centre of Porto Venere but thankfully away from the crowds!

Mr Giovanni and Mrs Maria are very welcoming.  The apartment was clean and spacious, although a little tired.  Furniture and kitchen equipment could do with updating. Nevertheless a great place with beautiful views if you book an upper apartment.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Residence I Gabbiani and found the treatment received from Mr Giovanni and Mrs. Maria absolutely amazing, something that you simply does not expect the present times. They ways are from the good times where people developed a real relationship with their customers. They were extremely kind and accommodating and my family and I are truly grateful to them. The Place has unbelievable views and is perfectly located as a base from where to explore Cinque Terre without the limitations of other alternatives. Besides Porto Venere offering incredible views on its own right. Very comfortable, quiet, clean and easy access.
