I stayed several nights at the Villa Monica and can't say enough about the staff. As professional and considerate as you could hope for. I had a small problem with my room and the desk clerk personally came to check on it. They were very friendly and very concerned with my personal comfort and enjoyment of my stay. Beautiful property in walking distance to local restaurants and pubs. A hidden gem there is the outstanding restaurant at the hotel that serves local seafood specialties. It's literally a destination restaurant - that good. Great wine selection and multiple courses of perfectly prepared food. The rooms themselves are pretty standard for the area. Single bed, small shower and small TV with something like 1200 channels - all but one in Italian (the one non-Italian that I saw was French). Also, a little warm for my taste and no obvious way to cool it down other than opening the window. So, all-in-all, the unexceptional room was more than made up for by the beautiful grounds, the staff and the restaurant. I will make a point of staying there next time I'm in the area.
