119 reviewsWe have visited La Marronaia five times and its breathtaking beauty never ceases to surprise us. Throw open any window and you'll find a living renaissance painting. The furnishing is simple: a scrubbed pine table, a hot shower and a comfortable bed. There are few cooking utensils for a very good reason: the local food, wine and oil are perfect: a glass of chianti and a plate of antipasti in the setting sun is a match for any Michelin starred restaurant. Sylvia and her family run a little restaurant a few hundred metres away where you can try the oil and wine they grow on their farm with local cheeses etc. My 7 year old son wasn't a fan of prosciutto, so the kitchen made him a bowl of pasta and tomato sauce which we fought over; it was delicious. If you want 5 star luxury go to Las Vegas. If you want to refresh the soul a live a life of perfect simplicity for a week or two, then this is the place for you. The nearby town of San Gimignano is lovely. There are many tourists during the day but late at night there is no better way to relax by sitting by the medieval well with a gelato from the Gelateria Dondoli in the town square.
